I wanted to add here that I have seen both Dr. Osterholm and Dr. Rasmussen at the Pet Clinic with one of our guinea pigs, who turned out to have breast cancer. Dr. Osterholm was the intake physician and was wonderful. I couldn't have been happier with her care and concern for our piggy. But it was Dr. Rasmussen who actually did the delicate surgery on our little guy (yes, guy!). She was outstanding, and I also found her to be gentle, kind and compassionate. She followed up with us over time, calling us when preliminary reports came in, and compassionately giving us the grim news that it was cancer, when the final results were available. She balanced that, however, with the good news that often, in guinea pigs, breast cancer does not spread.

We did have success with that, and our piggy had good health for another year. Sadly, he died a year later of unrelated causes. Again, Dr. Rasmussen cared for him at the end and was fully engaged with us in every aspect of what his needs and ours were. I can't remember when a vet has been more kind and compassionate when dealing with a little guy such as this kind of a pet. She followed his death with an autopsy, calling as each stage of the reports came in, to let us know what had happened to him.

I want to FULLY RECOMMEND that any of you in Nebraska, who are within a reasonable driving distance, not hesitate to bring your guinea pigs in for care to EITHER ONE of these remarkable vets, who incidentally seem to work as a team, consulting each other in their work with these little ones. I am happy to be able to say that I witnessed this kind of teamwork more than once between the vets at this wonderful, cooperative clinic, which is, I believe, as it should be. Again, this is:
