If you go to Petfinder and select "small and furry" and type location as Santa Rosa, CA, there are lots of piggies in shelters in that area (Sonoma County) : Healdsburg, Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park.

One shelter says they have "Tons" of guinea pigs.

Bert has been in the shelter for awhile. He was dumped by a Grandma and Grandpa who said the grandchildren got tired of him and Grandma was unable to care for him. He has also already been neutered.

He is very sweet and wheeks for veggies. What a sweetheart he is. I want him but I'm not sure when I can make the roadtrip from Sacramento area to Healdsburg.

I'm getting Bert!

I've been in communication with someone at this shelter about him. She's going to Reno tomorrow and can bring him to me on her way.

He's been at the shelter for awhile. I am such a sucker for the older guys. I will spoil him rotten!

Those babies are adorable.

Bert is adorable too. Yeah, I would get the older guy because babies are easier to place than the seniors.

It just breaks my heart to see a senior pig in a shelter. I don't know how someone could dump a pet they've had for that long.

Bert will be here in about 4 hours!

He is already neutered. Healdsburg Animal Services spays and neuters all the guinea pigs when they come in. Adoption fees are higher, but well worth it.

Anyone in the Santa Rosa, CA area looking for a spayed/neutered piggy, check out this shelter.
