I am currently fostering an intact, orange, american smooth hair named Benny. He is seeking a new and loving home.

Age is somewhere between 4 and 5 years old. He is very well socialised and healthy. No past or present health problems as far as I know.

He is alone currently, but will need to be adopted out into a family with a cagemate for him. I am very happy for potential cagemates to be introduced at my home and I am willing to drive up to 7 hours (possibly longer if the match is especially good) to transport him at no cost to you.

I am in Ithaca, NY. Please post on here or email me directly if interested. Benny is really a sweet boy and will warm to you immediately.

If I don't hear from a good home on here I will transport him to the MSPCA in Massachusetts (Methuen), but i would prefer for him to go straight to a loving home.

Shoot. Wish I were closer; he is absolutely adorable and I'm thinking he might be paired up with one of our special-needs guys.

Don't suppose you're planning a trip to Indiana any time soon-? ;)

sef1268, that might not be totally out of the question. Can you tell me where abouts you are in indiana? (feel free to email me that info) Also, do you have time constrains on when he would come to you?

It looks like you would be a fantastic home for him.

Benny is still looking for his perfect forever home! My default plan is to drive him up to Nevin's farm SPCA in MA on the 18th of December, but I'd love for him to go straight home and not have to spend time in a shelter. Contact me between now and the 18th if you are interested. I'm happy to drive a long way for this little boy!

I am also willing to stick around upon delivery and help with introductions/check that he gets along well with everyone if that would help.

So tempted! We're pretty maxed out at five here, though.

I'm a new member, and live in Schoharie County, NY. I've been planning to adopt a guinea pig (actually I was thinking more along the lines of a bonded pair, as I know they are usually happier with a friend -- but then I saw Benny, and...) for a while now, and have been collecting supplies. (I got a Midwest 2'x4' cage for Christmas, in fact -- I have a very understanding husband. ::smile::)

I hope I'm not overstepping a boundary by using this as my first post, but I joined the site yesterday, and I've just now seen this thread about Benny.

Did you take him to MA, or do you by some chance still have him?

I'll send a note through the email interface, too.

Oh, I hope it works out! If he is at Nevins Farm, I'd be happy to scoop him up and meet you in Western Mass.

Oh, my fingers are going to lock in "crossed" position....

Thank you, mmeadow! That's so kind of you!

I've been made aware of guinea pigs quite close to home (private, not through a rescue ... a friend of a friend) and, since I have not heard back at all from the person with Benny, I have committed to taking piggies from the local situation.

I hope Benny is well, and wherever he is now, he winds up loved and happy.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Hi All,

Sorry for being off the grid for a while. GayzeN, I sent you a couple of emails, arounf the 30th of dec I think - did you receive any in the end? So sorry for the confusion.

Benny and I made the trip up to Nevins as planned on the 18th of dec. I have not been made aware that he has been placed yet. So, if you come here and can't resist him, I urge you to contact Nevins.

I should have posted in here as well as emailing, but i guess with the holiday season, I didn't think to. I hope I haven't spoiled a really great chance for Benny. L

You didn't. Others that needed help got it, and from Nevins' reputation (I have never been there), Benny is in good hands.

Sometimes you just have to believe that things will work out for the best.
