Three boars, one cage.
I have a bit of a dilemma...
I had been hoping to write up an adventure story with Scribble and drawings and photographs and - and - and - I even made a boat out of cardboard! I am ashamed to say that Scribble has gotten too big for the boat that I made for a smaller baby boar. So, I'm going to shelf my guinea pigs and adventures until after I've finished my Java Certification for work which needs me to study, study, study.
This past weekend boyfriend and I went on a mini-break to Thistle Cavies with the mini-pigs (Scribble stayed at home to keep his unwell friend company and because he hadn't met Meribel properly before that day)
Meribel and the mini pigs travelled very, very well... though we did learn something about the two little boys and one little lady during our visit which was quite important.
While I do live in Scotland I live in a city which is more in the "south" of Scotland (there are areas more southern than where I live but south is south if you live very north :) ) the scenery changes dramatically. While I would love to live further north in the future living in the city means that 45 minutes of travel takes me to scenery which I've seen before but never fails to capture my imagination and awe.
Especially when we came upon a stag during one of our dog walks!
We were kindly gifted some fleece toys from Thistle and immediately put them to good use when we got home. Susie and I immediately began to put together a "Grandpa Buddy with his Granddaughter Maple (Runt)" scene.
The mini pigs continue to grow bigger every day, putting on about 10g each day though Meribel seems to tolerate them suckling less and less each day.
On Saturday, little Cow will be 3 weeks old and will be moving in with Scribble and Buddy (neutered) until he is old enough to go and live with his new owner at 6 weeks old. His new owner will be coming to visit him soon, I invited her not only so she can meet (and rename) Cow, but also so I can accept that Cow won't live here much longer.
The big news we learned concerned Lefty (now Maisy) who is very much a little lady piglet and who will still be finding a new home at 6 weeks old. She's quite the little cuddler and seems to enjoy falling asleep on a warm lap if she can't hear her brother and sister wheeking for their mum.
Finally there is little Runt (now Maple) who is quite a fierce and determined little piggy. Who could blame her as she has to constantly fight Cow and Maisey for her mum's attention. I did think she would become a bit of a mummy's girl as she use to always stick by her mum but now I can see she was manipulating the milk ;)
As for Scribble, he has been enjoying living with a sickly piggie who has an owner desperate to see Buddy eat a meal quickly and on his own. You can imagine that he must think Christmas has come early with all of the snuggle sacks, heat pads and various forms of mashed, sliced, diced and blended food which has descended upon His Majesty's palace.

Grandpa Buddy looks so massive compared to Maple. You'll need to take a pic of her on that chair on her first birthday so we can squeal all over again.
Scribble is handsome and he knows it.
Those armchairs are a pain to wash but worth it for the cute factor when you see a pig draped over one.

Cow, Lefty and Maple.
The mini pigs are 30 days old.
Cow has been living with the boars since he was three weeks old. At 4 weeks his new owner came to meet him and I began to say goodbye. He is such a plucky little chap and it will be hard to see him leave. He still wheeks for his mum and she still looks for him.
Lefty had a little bit of fungal on her nose which has quickly cleared up after we used some GG on her. Her new owner (a GLer!) lives a bit further away so has been "meeting" her through facebook pictures. Both she and Maple have had time to learn some bad habits from their mum, Meri, and now beg from the top of fiddlesticks and try to jump into hay racks.
I was after a "family photoshoot" today and since boyfriend was over I was feeling brave. With instructions to pick up Cow if he mounted anyone we added cucumber, lined them up and then...
waited for the perfect group photo opportunity.
and waited...
Tried moving Cow who seemed to just want to bury himself under mum and nap...
but the girlie-eggs decided it was the perfect opportunity to have lunch.
Decided to try and get a nice picture of Cow with his mum
But the presence of mum seems to mean "Get under" which I suppose is better than "Get on top!"
We didn't even think about trying to add Scribble to get an "NoCable's Pigs" group photograph. Even though he looks incredibly shiny today after his GG melt and bath last night with Buddy.
Webs, you really have had such a rubbish year. The next time I visit Thistle I'll let you know. Hopefully Maple won't be too much older and you can get a mini-pig snorffle and we can argue about who Marley likes the best (ME!)
