This is a local lake in Rotterdam where my mum learned to swim as a child.
Image

A coot feeding her young (the chicks are so ugly but so cute at the same time!)
Image

We saw plenty of frogs too, which is what you expect from a country that calls itself 'Cold frog land'.
Image

Saw some lovely dragonflies too
Image

Visited my two nieces who were born 2 days before and a day after my birthday! This is Dylana.

And this is Chanaya

Visited my brother who has two new kittens. Naturally they used me as a bed (excuse my mid blink face)
Image

Some typical Dutch countryside views. This was taken from a car, hence the highspeed blurred swan ;)
Image

We also visited some castles! This is Wijchen castle.

In my next installment I will show you some of the wonders that is De Efteling. An amusement park in Holland that got build in the 50s and was based on Grimms fairytales, but has now expanded to many more fantastical things. This is the entrance:

I was so looking forward to more photos, and what wonders they are!

I love the bugs and things, the cute coot, and the'piglets'!!! Beautiful photos all the way! I feel like I have been on a mini holiday just looking at your pics :)))

Is the roof sort of thatch in the last pics? It looks wonderful! I

sardonic - It gets better each year! So many new rides and shows on, plus it gets bigger and bigger.

Mildred - Yep, all thatched. I absolutely ADORE the entrance. Every time I see it I get goosebumps of pure joy.
