The crazy life of a surprise family member

No new pictures yet, but thought I'd put this so I can reminisce in a few years. Read the ones about Gina and can't help being sad I forgot stuff. Don't want that to happen again. And there are people who I can tell these things to who don't roll their eyes.

It is so much fun to watch Vidi and Liberty eat veggies. Even better when it is the first time. I just remember how huge their eyes got when I put the first plate of lettuce, peppers, and carrot in front of them. They looked at me for a moment like they were saying "This is all for us?" before getting the food. And when we put in Roma tomatoes quarters, Liberty hunts one out and has to carry it over her head. The two of them don't like basil though. It's the only way they will avoid a food. Otherwise, they share all of their food.

Ryzen still has to be forced to eat something new. We just tried cucumbers. While the girls eat it after everything else, so I assume it isn't their favorite, Ryzen threw it out of her cage to avoid eating it. Little stinker. Upside, she loves lettuce and basil. She is finally tolerating red peppers, but the green are evil. It's funny how she screams more if I tell Molly that the girls will feed her because I want some sleep than if I tell both I'm going to be mean and make them both wait half an hour.

I heard last night, so the girls are lucky I haven't seen them yet, but the girls almost fell asleep and Liberty got off the bed (broken rule of awareness when out of cage) and hid under the dresser. They both are teenagers and normally are good about it. The oldest got home and they were panicking because she was missing. So, he's threatening them while looking for her. He started doing all the noises he does to talk to them when they are in his room and panicking himself because he was worried she was hurt. She never made a sound but he turned his head and she was sitting next to him all scared. He held her and told her he was so sorry he wasn't there. I guess she ended up giving him a kiss in the end. He got the first Liberty kiss!

I'm really hoping that the girls get the all clear tomorrow. We are getting the keys to the new house today so us moving will be when we do the introductions. Nice big bathroom to do it in. I want this to go right. At least they all know, I hope, that they are loved by all of us. My bigger worry is that we can't bring Molly. She is my parents' cat really and is attached to Ryzen. We can't pick her up or get her into a carrier even Ryzen's without getting attacked. So, we can't move her. I have a feeling Ryzen will be doing visits a lot. Then she will be like everyone else leaving and coming. We are lucky Ryzen loves car rides...

We are in introduction time! This is a week earlier than I was planning since I wanted to do it with the move to the new house. Yes, having teenage girls is annoying. Up side, all three spent the past two hours just sniffing and cuddling each other. Liberty is in charge, like I suspected. I'm at work all night too.

The worst we had was Ryzen trying one nose off with Liberty, then being climbed over so Liberty could check on Invidia. After that, it was just Liberty get close to Ryzen and Ryzen screams until Invidia looks up from cuddling next to her. Yes, those two are pretty much inseperable already. And Liberty is all I'm exploring everything.

Next up will be cage time. The younger girl is finishing up with the fleece so I will update on that.

The girls are finally together and getting along. All three! It took us until a week or so to no longer get screams from Ryzen when Liberty got too close to her. Of course, now Liberty and Ryzen can be found cuddling upstairs under the lap quilt the youngest added for them. Vidi tries not to go there is possible, so it is their hangout.

The first week, Liberty decided that the loft was HER territory. Every time Ryzen would go up the ramp, she would snap at her, which would set off a bunch of screaming from Ryzen. Vidi would wait near the bottom and then cuddle her until she calmed down. At first, I thought those two were going to be the closer ones, but now I realise that Vidi just decided her role as comforter and ran with it.

Finally, Liberty started hanging out down under the ramp when she realised I wasn't going to put food up there; just putting it downstairs. This let Ryzen have her loft again. But, she was letting Liberty up there when she wanted since she could hide in the hay. This changed when we moved and certain children decided to wait a week to add the loft back.

The week without the loft forced all three to really figure out their spots. Ryzen figured when she screamed enough when I was making breakfast for everyone that she could get the girls to come out. She has officially become the demander of hay and water. She also taught them how to play in the hay. It was so cute when she would jump under the hay and then jump out at them. They all do it now when we leave them enough. She also is still the one who runs to us for affection as much as possible. Part of me wonders if the fact that we had her so young and spent so much time with her makes her more willing to have lap time and be carried everywhere or if it is just her personality period.

Vidi has kept the role of comforter. She has also discovered that she has a voice too. If she wants something, we get wheeks from her. Mainly, it is more of an acknowledging us amount. She also makes sure that Liberty doesn't steal Ryzen's veggies.

So, Liberty has become the group dominant. If there is any chance of the other girls getting huffy, she is right ther to put an end to it. She also will protect the other two when they are out. On the other hand, she has been my nurse with all rounds of the flu I keep picking up this year. Once the girls get her out (easiest being when she is under the blanket in the loft), they bring her to me and she just lays near me quietly under my blanket. It is to the point where I can ask her if she wants out and she will run up and then sit with me and cuddle. It sets Ryzen to complaining most times since she wants the cuddles too.

So, the girls are officially settled together. Oh, and they taught Ryzen to eat peppers. Ryzen eats the slowest of the three, so Vidi stays by her until she is done. I need to get a picture some time of them all drinking together. They actually were fighting over bottles until we put all three in the same area in a line. Before, they all went to the one and would avoid the others, which caused issues.

Last thing, the Tardis started out as a fight when we put them together. Ryzen kept getting forced out by Vidi, who would get forced out by Liberty. We had the two sleeping bags from Windespirit in there too, but they all wanted the Tardis at first. Finally, I just stuck Ryzen in the one and then they decided that the other ones were worth cuddling in. The favorite is the purple one and all three have been found curled in there when there is a storm. We kept them downstairs in the open section by the ramp. When they are feeling lazy, they will just scoot the bag or the Tardis to the water bottles and drink while staying in there. Stinkpots.

A little update on the three girls. All three have gotten older and more into their own personalities, which has changed in the past few years.

Ryzen still is the vocalist to remind that they are STARVING each and every morning. This finally has gone down to me walking near their cage. She also is demanding of cuddles when anyone is near. Blankets are her favorite thing to lay in. Not on, in. She burrows under any she can find. The only down side, she has decided that biting is necessary when she is bored. She will start chewing on our clothes and skin if she is not content. We got her to fall in love with green bell peppers. But, not grocery store green peppers. The ones from the farm across the street's seconds. So, half the year we have issues and the other half, she's trying to steal them from Liberty and Invidia.

So, about Invidia. We have to watch her liquid veggie intake. As long as she only has cucumber two times a week, her poops do not get very soft. Any more and days will go by with soft, smushy poops. She also has been chistened Vidi the Explorer. Yes, sung to the theme of Dora the Explorer. She enjoys it. As she has gotten more comfortable around "her" hoomans, she has begun jumping from the top of the sofa into the loft of the cage to get back in. Crying ensues if she is taken off and put in herself. She also loves climbing to high places and discovering how far she can get on her own. We have to constantly keep a close eye on her. For the most part, she will tell you if SHE wants cuddled. When this happens, she climbs up to lift herself up so that she is almost on her hind legs to help being picked up. If she doesn't, she runs and hides. In that case, Ryzen moves to get picked up herself. The two of them have multiple tug of war events when it comes to veggies. The only way it ends is when I put a second of the veggie in question in front of their faces. But, Invidia is the narrowest of them all.

Lastly, there is Liberty. She has become more of the hide and keep from getting picked up kind. Once you do, she just stays comfortably by us. It's just always a fight to get it to happen. She has no desire to explore or leave her comfy areas. But, she is still the one in charge when necessary on irritations.

The three of them are regularly caught together cuddled up or just relaxing near each other. If one is hormonal, sooner or later, that one gets chased to the loft and Liberty blocks the ramp so the menstrual one can't get down until calm is restored. I should add that Ryzen at one time had a breeder's tag, but that is gone. In fact, the same day it did, we noticed a different vibe in the cage. Our suspicion was that it was ripped off by one of the girls while everyone was at school/work. But, after that, it seemed that it then made Ryzen completely accepted as one of the girls and not just an annoying member. There was no blood or scabs ever found on her and she let everyone touch her ear with no complaints. But, she now has a permanent flared ear.

When I have time, I will get updated pics if anyone wants to see the girls. But, basically, they are doing great and ruling the house.
