Thanks!

The Monaco Grand Pig Race is in training! The blue crew needs to stack up on food supplies in the pit stop first.

Thanks!

tashab, had them for years, but not in use. Entrances were cut out of the Lego kids' storage blocks. The bottom parts serve well as a hay tray, green oat tray and pellet bowl. They were not used for a while, as the plastic is a tad softer and Bubbly used to keep on chewing that type of plastic. So, I used them as bathroom decoration since. So glad I tried them again for the pigs, they love'm!

This week's setup is pretty cheerful! Although I am certain that pigs have absolutely no interest in color or theme coordinated setups, lol, I admit that the pleasant visual is there for my joy mostly, as I am present almost 24/7. As long as the pigs zoom, popcorn and enjoy themselves, I am happy too!

Yes, nice colors! Guinea pigs do see colors - I expect they are aware of the changes!

Oh, yes, they even each have a favorite color too, some very explicit. Plucky loves blue very much, for example, it's very obvious. Anything blue is hers, so everyone needs to get out, lol.

Went for a checkup with Plucky. She's in excellent shape, but needed some extra heart meds due to a minor decline in weight. She will turn 6 soon, so I'm quite happy that she is still popcorning, zooming and looks happy.

The vet did heart tests. They went well. Plucky was not too pleased, but certainly not frantic with the cardiologist a few years ago. His apparatus was much better and he certainly had a better way of doing these tests.

Told the vet that Yuyu had lost all her long hair, not her short, due to Tramadol, or something in-explainable, and that it's growing back well. As it started as soon as the Tramadol dosage was doubled, I said I saw no other explanation, especially as all the other options did not match. He remembered, as hub already told him that she lost her hair.

He said that the fact that only her long hairs were involved, which is possible, as they genetically differ from the short ones like in her face, on her feet, etc, it's very strange indeed, but as this is so weird, there is no other explanation that Tramadol caused it. I told him to look on the internet for pets with the same issue.

We were talking about hay and pellets. He asked Oxbow to become the supplier of their hay, but then discovered that he had to sell far more than he could ever get rid off, even being the sole supplier in Belgium. He said that most people won't pay for that hay, that people like us are the exception.

He also said that the care for exotic pets is improving a lot. He became specialized as an exotic vet because he could make a living out of it. His girlfriend now also entered the partnership, as she's an exotic pet behavior specialist. People who refuse to spend money on pets are becoming the minority he says, and if they complain about the costs, he sends them to another vet and warns them that cutting costs only causes the pet to suffer.

The vet and I also talked about low calcium pellets. He said that those should not matter, as most pellets sold here have the correct calcium, phosphorus ratio now. He asked if I used certain products which he named. Told him I did and that all of them caused calcium deposits on the fleece. Told him that having pigs live on fleece does offer that it can be watched, as calcium deposits are hard to spot on other bedding.

He was very interested, also because I talked about Woozy and Whoopy, and what the professor vet of the university clinic of Utrecht told about low calcium pellets more than once in the past. He finally starts to believe me.

I asked if my suspicions about piggies, who lost their ovaries after cysts removal being the target of amorous piggies in heat, was caused by the lack of hormones they produced, and he said I was right. He says that pigs can actually smell it very well. No wonder that Plucky is the one all the girls want then, aww poor girl.

I also told him that Yuyu pulled a great stunt that morning. I reached out to grab Plucky and said that we were off to see the vet. Yuyu was standing close to her. As soon as I said that, she looked at me, her eyes turned as big as saucers and she veered off like a rocket to hide. I told the vet that she’s not keen on him, rofl!!!!

I love your themed cage decorations. The habitat is a visual highlight in the room!
