I'm gob smacked. What happens now? Seems like we either get rid of him (need republicans in congress to impeach) or we loose our democracy. Scary.

Call your congress people tomorrow and tell them what they need to do - impeach - especially the republicans, most dems are already on board.

Long but lots of info. Read as far as you want.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/powerpost/paloma/daily-2 ... ly202&wpmm=1

Don't miss the part about Sean Spicer hiding in the hedges on the Whitehouse lawn in order to conduct a secret press conference with Fox in the dark.

And to think that Comey found out he was fired by seeing it on TV. Even if he had been in D.C., the letter wasn't delivered to his office until after it was on TV. Shameful!

Russia!

Trump wants to stop the investigation. No cred for any replacement. What bush-hiding fools!

Comey reportedly wanted more money for the investigation. He wanted more people on it.

CNN exclusive: Grand jury subpoenas issued in FBI's Russia investigation

http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/09/politics/grand-jury-fbi-russia/

Rumor has it that there are three grand juries on the Trump/Russia affair, two in eastern VA and one in southern NY. I think Trump can't fire these guys - they are state employees.

Trump can and did fire the District Attorney for the Southern District of New York, federal not state. The office has something like a ridiculous 98% conviction rate of cases they choose to prosecute. I had an issue, an investigation. Turned out ok, but I was told, if they find something, you take a plea. Regardless of the fact I did nothing wrong.

He is indeed in trouble if they want him and I'm sure his firing of the US Attorney pissed off a very powerful group of prosecutors.

An op ed in the NYT by Paul Krugman.
Judas, Tax Cuts and the Great Betrayal
https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/12/opinion/judas-tax-cuts-and-the-great-betrayal.html?_r=1

Republicons will do anything for tax cuts. They only care about their wealthy donors.
This rings so true. Krugman makes the case.

Comey’s Firing Is Worse Than the Saturday Night Massacre
At least during Watergate officials inside the administration refused to collude with Nixon’s orders.

Okay Trump wanted Comey to swear an oath of loyalty to him, which is treason as Comey is to be loyal to the United States. He fired Comey without having a person already selected to replace him. He wanted Comey to tell him he wasn't being investigated regarding Russia, which Comey couldn't do.

Trump is threatening to stop press briefings which would mean Spicer doesn't have to hide in the bushes anymore.

Now (allegedly) Trump gave information to Russia. While he has the RIGHT to do so (along with the right to dance naked on the White House lawn). Do you think the information sources might be in danger? Oh, and do you think Russia didn't know the source (Israel)? Do you think Israel is going to want to really give the US any more information.

Today Trump gave a speech to the newest Coast Guard Officers (of which he is cutting the budget) in which he just HAD to bring himself into it. Yes, seems that, according to Trump, "No politician in history, and I say this with great surety, has been treated worse or more unfairly." Uhhhh, he might want to read about what was said about his hero Andrew Jackson. Also read about what was said about Abraham Lincoln, Obama, FDR, Churchill, Queen Elizabeth I, etc. I doubt the man has read a book in over 50 years.

In my opinion -and it's free- the man is the classic definition of Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD). Everything HAS to be about him. He is the best, the most put opinion, the greatest, whatever. No ONE is going to be 100% on anything.

Alice Roosevelt Longworth said of Theodore Roosevelt (26th president), "My father always wanted to be the corpse at every funeral, the bride at every wedding and the baby at every christening." Trump makes TR look self-effacing.

Seems like unfortunately from Trump the Russian probe isn't going away. Former FBI Director Mueller is to lead Trump.

What is scary, if Trump goes, we get Pence. After what he did to Indiana...

Of course health care is a privilege, along with clean water, a source of electricity, roads, education....basically all the 'socialistic' programs. Guess what, disease/sickness does not respect wealth.

Not defending Trump, but the accuracy of Trump requesting an oath of loyalty is suspect at best. "Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders told the Times, "We don't believe this to be an accurate account," adding, "The integrity of our law enforcement agencies and their leadership is of the utmost importance to President Trump. He would never even suggest the expectation of personal loyalty"

In light of everything, I've come to believe Comey is just as suspect as Trump. I don't think Comey is any bargain and should be gone. Even though his comments may very well have cost Hillary the election, it wasn't right what he did, the timing was not proper.

However, if Trump did request the oath of loyalty, he's gone too far. It is precisely what Hitler began requesting from his military. I don't think it's accurate though.

Now (allegedly) Trump gave information to Russia.

This is confirmed, not alleged. He gave classified info to the Russians. The problem is, it was not his to give. Another country gave only the US the info. They are steaming mad! What will happen is no country is going to trust Trump with sensitive intel. Trump is a danger to our country and he may have compromised the people who got the intel and thereby put their lives in danger.

I was talking only about the request for an oath of loyalty from Comey. Not sure there is a way to confirm that. I could be wrong though.

What classified information did he give to the Russians, and from whom did it come?

I agree with you by the way, depending on the type of information, it very well could compromise operations some people spend their entire career working on, it could get people killed also. Forget about other countries not trusting us, the real danger is that his spec op teams will not trust HIM.

Hundreds of billions of dollars are spent in training, the planning of operations and then the operations themselves. No one will ever send the information up the chain if he's really done this depending on the type of breach.

I put in the "(allegedly)" to be as sarcastic as Putin can be. Putin denied that Trump had passed to Russia any secrets reportedly linked to Israel. He could also offer 'proof' in the form of a written transcript. Uh yeah...first of all you cannot prove a negative. Second a written transcript is worth nothing. Third I do not trust Putin as he is KGB and his detractors have a funny way of dying.

I tend to be naive about people. However Trump has made so many people sign loyalty oaths and non disclosures I would not be surprised. Plus Trump cannot make up his mind on why he fired Comey. First it was how Comey handled the Hillary situation, then it was Russia. I am tired of alternate facts. In my book 'alternate facts' are lies.

I am an independent and find enough to dislike about each party. So in my book Comey probably was doing his job. Unfortunately with Hillary (bad timing) he got the democrats angry. Then with Trump/Russia he got the republicans angry(or at least Trump). Comey could not win.

Now we have Israel knowing they cannot trust Trump with intelligence. How many other allies are also going to do the same?

I was quoting rpaws. Yes, it is Israel (I believe). There have been multiple points of confirmation. I wasn't commenting on Comey.
