Gosh I know Bookfan, venting and being very VERY stupid. Probably thinking to stop-it by saying stupid things like that. Dumb dumb dumb.

I'm sorry, I don't lose it often but sometimes I just wish for more normal and don't take time to think. Darn I'm mad at myself.

i'm going to get a talking to for sure. Fortunately there are a lot of details that have been omitted and even changed, I suppose because he knows how stupid I am.

I was just thinking the same. Don't beat yourself - there really isn't much there, but just to be on the safe side...

It's all ok, I thought it was kind of funny too. I'm not a great liar but it doesn't matter. I am turning the page on a chapter of my life, it is over. I've thought and said that before but there was always some doubt, there isn't any now.

Every fighter that stays too long has an experience in their career where they just get old in the ring one night. They don't know when it's going to happen but happen it does and they usually get hurt badly. I wasn't hurt but I was lucky, luck doesn't last.

Nope, I'm going to help where I can, the fight isn't over, just the type of fighting for me. I'll concentrate some more on my towing business, my wife wants to do some philanthropy work helping others that could benefit from her skills. She deserves some time to do what she would like.

I feel good about putting to rest a career where I know I tried my best. I did whatever I did with integrity . and I can answer for all of it, I'm ok. I wish I could have taken out every poacher, every despot, every terrorist, but c'est la-vie

Unsure if she actually has committed to runnin but finally has said she'd consider it (after the midterms). She is one of several fine Democrats.

I like her. She's tough, solid values, a sense of humor. I could see myself voting for her. I'm still hoping for someone spectacular (a John Galt of Politics) to come along that could unite this country.

"Who is John Galt?"

I don't remember if I've ever read Ayn Rand's books but I am fuzzy on contents. Had to track him down and try to figure out who a John Galt of politics would be.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Galt

A short quote from "Cultural Significance":
In August 1988, the Louisiana business lobbyist and columnist Edward J. Steimel referred to the United States Congress and the liberal majority elected in 1986 in the last two years of the administration of US President Ronald W. Reagan as "the John Galt Congress". Steimel objected to an increase in the minimum wage, a measure which he said would "wreak havoc with the very individuals it is designed to help most – new entrants into the work force and new minority workers in particular". Steimel described the public as uninformed people who merely shrug their shoulders and ask "Who is John Galt?" whenever they are questioned about the grip of expanded government on their lives and liberty.[17]
I find it tragic and fascinating how all the good the government does is mischaracterized and twisted. The EPA under trump dumped the disastrous head it had to instate a quieter but just as disastrous head to rip out science and put the foxes in control. What the republicans give you is the freedom to die as a result of lax regulations and the protections they provide us all.

Greed is far and away the most vile sin today.

The House Baltic Caucus - As described on their website; "We have not forgotten the brutal Soviet occupation of the Baltic States, which lasted for half a century. Since the restoration of their independence from the USSR over 25 years ago, the Baltic States have been steadfast allies of the United States"

Curious and curiouser. There are 78 members of Congress on this Caucus, 78! The above description is the third sentence of the opening paragraph describing the caucus on their website. No mention of what was most likely the most horrific genocide to ever take place on this planet in those countries by the Nazis or more specifically the Einsatzgruppen.

Throughout history, as everyone knows without me telling. The Baltic Region has been as significant as any place in the world. If we adhere to the old adage about failing to learn from history condemning us to repeat it, it makes sense we keep a close eye on this area of the world. However, I'm trying to find out exactly what the caucus does, it's not looking good. It appears to be a place to park your hat, put you feet up and say hey, I'm on a caucus.

Maybe I'm wrong, Ill report back. In the mean time does anyone know about what these representatives actually do in this caucus besides throw around the name of a historically significant region of the world and say we are looking out for these people even though it appears we do nothing?

Here is what hey have done in the last 18 years. It appears to be a caucus where you join up and say you co-sponsor legislation The big big legislation they have passed is commemorating a day in August as "Black Ribbon Day, a day commemorating independence from Soviets. Then they keep building on Black Ribbon Day. This is astonishing and another example of how these people try to pull the wool over our eyes to make us think they actually do stuff. Selecting the link for recent photos or recent events gets you ... wait for it... nothing. A fake link. Here is the official list:

2012:
H.CON.RES.267 Expressing support for the designation of August 23 as Black Ribbon Day to recognize the victims of Soviet Communist and Nazi regimes. [112th Congress]

2010:

H.CON.RES.267 Congratulating the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania on the 20th anniversary of the reestablishment of their full independence. [111th Congress]

2009:

H.RES.285 Congratulating the people of the Republic of Lithuania on the 1000th anniversary of Lithuania and celebrating the rich history of Lithuania. [111th Congress]

H.RES.496 Recognizing the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. [111th Congress]

OK in 1996 they did recommend the states enter into NATO but I'm pretty sure that would have happened without the caucus

Here's what wikipedia has to say:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_Baltic_Caucus

And supposedly their website:
https://housebalticcaucus.webs.com/

Given the bipartisan nature of the caucus and that I see some good dems (and rotten repubs) on it, it does not seem to be anything more than it is.

I read those two sites. I don't think it's anything more than it is either except a get on a caucus so I can say I'm on a caucus, caucus. To me it doesn't mater if they are good dems bad repups or blue people from mars, they all seem to be doing the same thing.... nothing, except of course for ribbon day.
