We're home. I have to go back tomorrow to get the ab's, as the pharmacy was closed today, grrr. After being made to feel like a total idiot for bringing him in, a resident came in and agreed that it needed to be expressed again. She didn't understand why we weren't given ab's to begin with. So now the plan is, start the TMS tomorrow, flush 3 times daily, and warm compresses 3-4 times daily.

Thank goodness the resident came in when she did, I was ready to slap the student. She acted like I had done something wrong, even though she's the one who told me to come in. She said that Elvis wasn't in "that" much pain, it didn't look "that" bad and he hadn't lost "that" much weight. I went over all this on the phone with her while we determined whether to bring him in. They also assured me that they had the TMS suspension there today.

Overall, Elvis was an angel. The abscess looks much cleaner now. They said we should try the round of TMS before going with surgery. I hate surgery, I think that's best too.

Lynx, there hasn't been an injury. I don't know why they're cloudy either. When the abscess is under control, I will have them looked at by a specialist.

Glad you got some good advice today. I do not know what TMS is but I hope it helps Mr Elvis. I am sorry he has to have surgery but then he will be good as new. I love that boy!

Oh Elvis wanted me to Thank his Mom for taking him to the Dr today, he is feeling some better and say Happy Mother's day too.

I just realized that I wasn't very clear about the surgery. The vet believes that the antibiotics will help get rid of the abscess. If they do work, we won't need the surgery.

Aw, thanks. I'm glad that Elvis is keeping his aunty Deb up to date and saying such nice things about me.

Well then lets hope the AB's do the job then. I'm sure Elvis wouldn't mind skipping the surgery : )

Thanks for asking about him. He's doing pretty well. The abscess looks better to me. I'm hoping between the TMS, compresses and flushings, that we can kick this thing for good.

He's so good with all the stuff I have to do to his face. The other day, he just plopped down and fell asleep on my arm while I was using the compress on him.

It would seem that he's intolerant to the TMS. That seems odd to me though. I see that he is having some strange poo's, shriveled. In my previous experience this is one of the early signs of intolerance.

I'm skipping the dose for tonight and will be calling the vet tomorrow. The last thing we need is to send him into diarrhea overnight. He's had 4 total doses so far.

Thanks, Bytxlaura and Bugs Mom. It's never easy, is it?

The soft poo is here now. Thank goodness, I didn't give him the last dose. I just hope he doesn't end up will full on diarrhea.

Critical Care helped Pirate a lot when he was having antibiotic intolerance issues.
