I sure hope he feels better soon. I know he must miss his own cage and friend. Kiss him for me.

I had to take Llewelyn in to be put to sleep this morning. The vet will do a necropsy and let me know the results later today.

Oh Mum, I'm so terribly sorry. I know you've tried so hard to keep him as long as possible. Sleep well little one.

Oh poor little Llewelyn. I am so sorry. This is just so sad. So many of our beloved babies are crossing the bridge.

Mum you know how much we love loved him.

Hugs

I'm so sorry. I think Llewelyn was the first pig I remember reading about when I first joined GL. How sad to see a legend move on.

The vet just phoned me with the results of the necropsy:

He had a very severe cardiomyopathy: the walls of both ventricles of his heart were so thickened there was almost no room left in the chamber.

The area around his heart and his abdomen were completely full of fluid - the vet said 'he was drowning - there was fluid everywhere.'

He had one very large red cyst on one kidney, and another very large clear cyst on the other kidney.

For future reference, his heart was marginal on xray, although he did have a heart murmur. I only started him on lotensin because he was hooting and losing weight (this was a year or two ago). He was recently started on lasix after his molar surgery.

Llewelyn will be very missed in our house, but at least he had a good few years here; and perhaps his life was extended with the heart meds. He was 6 or 7 years old. Selfishly, I wish I'd been able to have him a little longer.

Undoubtebly his life was extended with heart meds. In fact his life was extended from ending up with you.
