He had a very severe cardiomyopathy: the walls of both ventricles of his heart were so thickened there was almost no room left in the chamber.
The area around his heart and his abdomen were completely full of fluid - the vet said 'he was drowning - there was fluid everywhere.'
He had one very large red cyst on one kidney, and another very large clear cyst on the other kidney.
For future reference, his heart was marginal on xray, although he did have a heart murmur. I only started him on lotensin because he was hooting and losing weight (this was a year or two ago). He was recently started on lasix after his molar surgery.
Llewelyn will be very missed in our house, but at least he had a good few years here; and perhaps his life was extended with the heart meds. He was 6 or 7 years old. Selfishly, I wish I'd been able to have him a little longer.
