Yup, tons of gas.

All my heart pigs have tons of gas (they swallow a lot of air when they eat).

Candy has had soft poop since she came in - or shortly after. Soft and tear drop shaped, with little divots in the poop - other than that she seems to be doing pretty well. The vet saw yeast under the microscope this morning, so I'm starting her on nystatin suspension. (I also posted that Heddwyn also has yeast, so he's going back on the nystatin also).

But I can't remember the dosage for nystatin!

Chippy got 0.5mls orally once daily for seven days. She weighed a bit over a kilo at the time, I believe.

Thanks Becky!

I talked to my vet, and although the other vet has used fluconazole, we're going to go with the nystatin simply because we know it's very safe.

I thought I'd dosed Heddwyn twice daily before. The dog or cat dosage lists it as being at least 3 times a day in Plumbs. Hmm.

I think it's pretty benign stuff. If there's yeast, it takes care of it. If not, I don't think it's too harmful.

Yes, two pigs had yeast in fecal smears today, so I need to start something.

Candy had nystatin for 2 weeks to clear up the yeast, but her poop was so soft I started her on Flagyl. After 2 doses she finally had normal poop.

And she's gaining weight - finally she's up over 2 pounds, and she has a little belly!

She feels like a normal pig now, and she adores her critical care.

I'm so glad she's gaining weight. I bet her little belly is really cute.

Candy is gaining weight, but very slowly - she's hit 2lb 1oz, but she feels like a different pig:

Mum I am so sorry for your loss. I know you have gone through a lot trying to get that little angel feeling well. Do you know what happened to her? She was so lucky to have found you and she knew that. You really made a difference for her, a huge difference and she left this earth knowing that she was loved. She was a special little pig, and I will also miss her.

Rest in peace Candy.
