Scooter has lost weight
Wow...I just got his xrays. When I first looked at them on Tuesday, all I saw were the 2 large ones, and what looked like 5 or 6 really small ones in some sort of a sack. When I took a really close look at the them tonight, what looked like a sack, is actually something that looks like Mum's xray above. I will take a picture of the xray tomorrow and post it. It just seems to get worse.
Your Courtney sounds like such a caring child. Knowing that sometimes you have to love enough to say goodbye is a hard lesson to learn at her age. Ellie is just a little bit younger and I know she would not be handling things with as much grace as Courtney seems to be. All of you are in my thoughts tonight.
She has never lost one of her own pets, but she has lost a number of her favorites in the rescue. She always seems fine when I tell her, sad, but fine. But then she goes in her room and cries. She always tries to be very brave, but she is actually a very emotional child and feels things deeply. I am not really sure how she is going to handle this when the time comes to say good bye.

- I GAVE, dammit!
I'm so sorry. I'm thinking of you, Courtney and Scooter. I agree that Courtney sounds like a very sweet and caring girl.
I think Scooter has made the decision for me. He is so weak and frail. His eyes are all sunken. For the first time ever, I just found all 3 pigs snuggled together, head to head. I just had a talk with Courtney and gave her all the info and told her we had a decision to make. She started crying and said, "i think it is time to say good-bye."
Courtney is so distraught. Luckily, before she went to bed last night, we had a long talk and she was prepared for what we had to do. We were actually going to bring him to Dr. R today and put an end to his suffering.
When I tried to hand feed him last night, he could not even lift his head. That's when I knew we were at the end. So I put aside the CC and went and got him his favorite, blueberries. He showed one last burst of energy and practically dove into the bowl.
Courtney and I went together to say good bye. When it was time, we sang him his little song, and Courtney kissed him on his head. He closed his eyes and gave a little sigh. He then rasied his head a little for one last chin scratch.
I am going to get a necropsy done today.
Courtney made up a little song, kind of silly, that has a verse for every guine pig that haas ever been in our home, fosters too. It was based on their personallity. We called Scooter, Scooter Butt, because up until the time he was 2 years old, he acted like an a** to Scooby. Then he mellowed out. Here was his verse of the song:
Scooter Butt, Scooter Butt, I'm a piggy not a mutt!
I know it is silly, but we just sand that to him over and over. We brought Scooby with us to say good bye. He sat right next to him and licked him. When they took him away, Scooby went nuts and started running circles and wheeking. Then he just stopped and laid down with a big sigh.
