I envision a little treadmill with a carrot at the end. Mr. Piggy with a little sweatband on trotting away while hooked up the heart monitors. I hope he does well and/or gets better.

*sigh* Mr. Piggy is not on any meds right now. I don't know if I should be happy or frustrated.

Lungs are clear. She did an x-ray that shows no fluid around the lungs, or in them. The heart, she said, looks ok. I did not get a copy of these x-rays like I did with Ozzy and forgot to ask for it.

She said he is overweight and would like to see him get down to around 1300 gms. He is at 1440 now.

For now, I am to keep an eye (ear) on him and cut back on the pellets. I will have to give him more floor time too. Perhaps he needs a baby brother as well!

Bethie, I laughed out loud when I read your post! He actually does need a little piggy treadmill it seems!

How annoying. She won't give you a trial of lotensin?

She didn't see the need for it right now. I wish I had gotten the x-rays. Maybe if I call her tomorrow I can get a copy on a CD and post it.

I'm sorry StF. This is terribly frustrating for you. Hopefully you can get a copy of the x-ray.

I do wish vets would take concerned and informed caretakers more seriously than they do. You know Mr. Piggy better than anyone else does and can see the subtle things that a 15-minute check, even one by a competent doctor, will miss. Now, back on the treadmill, little guy!

The extraordinarily frustrating thing about this is that this is a vet that takes concerned, knowledgeable, educated and informed caretakers seriously. She knows about GL and respects our knowledge, history, and extensive medical, if anecdotal, experience.

Agh.

He was doing it faintly and sporadically this morning. I tried to catch it on video (for the sound!). Pump up the volume because it's hard to hear and about 13 seconds into the video.

This sound on Monday was MUCH louder and kept on for about 5-10 minutes. I wish I'd been alert enough to get the camera out that day.

Yes, that's clearly hooting. Can you show this to your vet?

Poor baby, definitely hooting. It would be great if there were some way to let your vet hear/see this video.
