OMG. The whole thing just fell off, I guess when it was ready to.

I bet she feels better.

Sakura is still doing well. Her eating and drinking habits are both near-normal, and her poop looks normal.

10/28 pm: 1193 g
10/29 am: 1176 g

Although her fur is growing quickly, she still looks like "half of a pig":

Sakura is beautiful!! I am glad she is doing ok. Her weight is fluctuating like Norbies but overall she is in the same range so I suspect that is ok.

Her incision looks good too! I think we both must have awesome vets! :-)

It is becoming difficult to "see" the scar. Her fur is growing so fast that it's hiding the scar.

11/02 am: 1212 g

Sakura has healed completely from her cyst removal. Here are a few final pictures from the healing process:

She turned 6 years old on April 22, 2012. Yay!

And now we are back.

Urinary Tract Infection, 2012

Sakura has leaving little reddish urine spots in her bedding; however, they did not have the odor of a UTI. She seemed very off in her behavior yesterday, so today we went to see Dr. Johnson at Arizona Exotic Animal Hospital (he works with Dr. Wright, and is also very experienced with guinea pigs).

Urinalysis showed a urinary tract infection. He also performed an ultrasound. The ultrasound showed no bladder stones (yay!), but a large ovarian cyst on her right side. Considering her age and her general health, Dr. Johnson did not recommend a spay.

Dr. Johnson mentioned that they've been seeing more incidents of kidney infections, and recommended bloodwork. I should get the results next week.

Sakura's Prescriptions:
- 0.6 ml of Trimethoprim/Sulfamethoxazole 48mg/ml every 12 hours for 14 days
- 0.4 ml of Meloxicam 0.5mg/ml for 3 - 5 days (possibly longer)
- Vitamin C

Sakura has a recheck exam in two weeks. I plan to ask about those new Oxbow supplements, especially the Urinary Support formula. I'd really like to know if the staff thinks that they may be helpful for Sakura, since she seems to be prone to UTIs.

Certainly did heal great!

Sorry about the new issues. Sounds like you are on top of them.

I'm sorry Sakura has a UTI. I hope she feels better soon! Fingers crossed for her bloodwork.

I'd be interested to know what they think of the Urinary Support.
