Calvin
-8 months old
-adopted from kijiji
-brother to Hobbes
-skinny pig

Calvin has this spot on his back. Roughly in the middle but off to the right hand side a touch.
It has gotten a tad bigger.
At first I thought it was a clogged pore and would go away but now I am not so sure.
It is about the size of an eraser on the end of a pencil around, it feels hard and he doesn't like if I touch it.
I'd like to know what you think it is and how I best treat it.
Sebaceous Cyst?

It looks like the beginnings of an abscess which will have to be treated with antibiotics. your best bet is to go to a vet and find out what it is for certain.

It could be a cyst. However, it looks red and it also looks like it may have a small opening in it, both bad signs. I would take him to the vet for this.

Ethel has something like a pimple all her life. It would come and go. She would go on antibiotics and it would go away and then a few months later it was back. It looked a lot like that. I would certainly have it looked at. Good vibes to Calvin! Does anyone else think quarantine from Hobbes until she knows what it is might be a good idea?

I don't think he needs to be separated, unless his buddy is biting at it or licking it. I do think that looks like it needs to be surgically removed though.

Oh dear.
Hobbes doesn't touch it luckily.
I will call the vets tomorrow to make an appointment for him to go in.

I see what looks like a tiny dot of pus. That looks like it opened at some point.

"PR what does having a small opening mean?"

It means that it is trying to drain on its own. It really is better to let the vet do that. The fact that it's red means that it is irritated/painful and could lead to infection, if it's not already infected.

I think it was red from me touching it, I just took another picture of it now and it isn't red anymore but yes there is that center. I will make sure to call tomorrow to set up an appointment for the vet to check it out.

Looks like what Weenis had, remember?

I applied pressure and his popped (sent you those images via email)

His cleared up the day after it was "emptied."

Yes I do recall that and thought about it today!!
When I touch the spot he doesn't like it and nips my pants, so I assume it hurts.
Did Weenis find it uncomfortable to touch?

Not really. When I applied pressure at first he whined a little, but stopped when the stuff started coming out of it.

I think it felt good, just like when a zit finally pops, yano? lol.

If it hurts him to touch it, I would let the vet look just to make sure.

Weenis' has never come back, nor developed a new one.

Yes I do, but photobucket thinks its inappropriate so it wont be up for long.

If Lynx or another mod can add it before photobucket removes it I can post them.

When I uploaded mine I put the title as medical reference, bump on guinea pig. I thought maybe that would help so they didn't think it was something rude.

His had a faint dot, but when I applied pressure it got brighter before "popping."

Calvin's looks like that "dot" could be gently removed with warm water or a warm compress.

I wouldn't risk it if you're worried though.
