VeBee: Definition of health. Hahaha! My interpretation.

Dr W. in Olympia checked her on Nov. 11. Since she was the one I thought I saw the lice on, he checked her skin and hair pretty closely and couldn't find anything wrong. In fact, he couldn't find ANYTHING wrong with her. Thank God we mis-named her (Vet Bill). Seriously, he checked everything and couldn't find any indicators of something wrong or off. Hopefully Vee will have a very short medical thread that spans many years.

VeBee has been limping since Friday. This morning it was much worse, to the point of sounding like an elephant when she ran on 3 legs across the cage floor (more jumping forward than running?). As soon as she stops moving forward, her front end sinks to the floor almost before her hind end gets there.

She's eating well, appears to be drinking well (certainly urinating!), and plenty of poop pellets left around - too many to just be Peek & Fuzz. She's not lost any weight, in fact, this morning she's 5 grams heavier than she was at her last weekly weigh-in on the 21st. I'll keep weighing her on a daily basis until this is over.

I unthinkingly gave her 0.05 Metacam before heading to vet where she, of course, gave no indication of being injured or in pain. He thought he might be able to feel a little swelling in her foreleg, but wasn't sure so we agreed to: Extra Vit C up to 100 mg if need be; and 0.05 Metacam (Peek's triple strength stuff) daily for the duration. If she's still limping on Friday, we'll go back to vet again. Naturally, as soon as I let her out of the carrier after getting home, she again made the awkward, and noisy, run across the cage floor.

I hope she gets better! VeBee is very lucky to have you as a caretaker :-)

I'd up the Metacam to 0.1 for a couple of days if it were me.

I think by Friday you'll see improvement. She may not be 100%, but she'll be better.

Best to her and please keep us posted.

For record keeping purposes:

VeBee will now start receiving double the amount of Vit. C per Dr. Widener's orders. I'll also increase her serving of bell pepper.
