I just got my baby Abyssinian male Guinea Pig yesterday and noticed the bald spot on his head. The skin isn’t flaky and doesn’t look abnormal in anyway. I’m not sure if this should be something to worry about or if he has an abnormal rosette. All his other rosettes are normal in appearance. The hair points outwards around the spot.

He could very well be a mix breed of Abyssinian and something else. Any input would be appreciated. I do have another male Guinea Pig who is around 6 months that I have treated for upper respiratory and a skin issue so I do know what to look for in regards to that (he has a clean bill of health) They are currently in separate cages. Thanks!

I answered you at GPC. If there's no flaky skin, and if it's small and round, it's the natural center of the crest.

Anecdotally, I've got an abby with a rosette on her head just like that. Keep an eye on it if you're uncertain, but it sounds normal to me.
