Guinea pig death and missing ears! Seeking advice!
Almost 2 weeks ago I purchased my first Skinny pig. I have 4 American Guineas in a 3x6 cage. When I purchased her, she was already sick with a little bit of crust on her eyes. I had medicine from past guinea pigs with the same issue so I gave her it in a separate cage for a week. She got much better and more happy so I introduced her to the rest and she loved it in there! They seemed to get along besides the normal Guinea pig dominance behavior. Just this morning I found the skinny pig dead in the cage with her ears missing and some skin off of her back. There was no puncture wounds or blood anywhere. None in the cage or on there other guinea pigs, they were very scared! I’m not sure what happened, she was in the cage with them for almost a week and it was very devistating 😔 we have another skinny pig now, but I’m very worried. One of the guinea pigs keep nibbling her ears and I’ve heard that’s normal for hierarchy behavior but it’s still scary. Any advice??
