Can someone advise what the difference is between a vet with the intials "VMD" and "DVM" after their name? I would like to know because there are two vets that I use but they do not have the same initials after their name and I am curious what this means.

Looking around on Google, it seems they are roughly equivalent (a guess). I think a DVM is a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. I can´t find what the VMD is. Either qualifies you to take several advanced specialties at different colleges.

I believe it is Penn. They give the degree in the latin form. Same thing, though. Hmmmm.... I think it is mentioned on the vet sites somewhere. I can´t recall right now.
