Help! I have to quarantine my pigs in the UK for 6 months!!!
It's official, the UK Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has turned down my request to quarantine my 5 piggies in Bahrain before I move to London at the end of the year.
I have to quarantine them in the UK for SIX LONG MONTHS. That's a huge chunk of their lives!
UK Guinea Lynxers, I BEG you to ask around (your vets, your local guinea pig rescues, fellow animal lovers, etc.) for quarantine recommendations. They don't have to be quarantine kennels per se--for example some animal sanctuaries are allowed by DEFRA to quarantine animals.
I have consulted DEFRA's list of recommended quarantines (yes, all 3 of them) and they are all businesses, totally commercialised and charging absolutely crazy prices (5,000-7,000 Pounds Sterling!!!). I'd rather pay more sensible money and see it go to a good cause like the upkeep of an animal sanctuary.
Please help my pigs Petit, Filous, Pate, Brulee and Marcel.

Someone from here (does anyone remember who?) moved from Australia to the UK, a little while ago. Because of the extended period of time her pigs would be pretty much stored away with no one to supervise them closely, she decided placing them into good homes was a better alternative than risking them getting sick and not getting the help they needed while in quarantine at the border. Because it wasn't a last minute thing, she had time to screen the adopters carefully.
