An idea!

Sef, why don't you contact Sue from C&C cages and ask her how she ships her coroplast?

I just ordered a Cavy Kit - this is such a great idea and really nice design on the website too.

PS to the above -- I just sent Sue an email. Hopefully she won't think I'm too tacky for asking. LOL

Yes, she did answer. She was very nice about it, actually. Sue says she ships the sheets scored and folded, and sends it in over-sized boxes. She said they are over-sized even by UPS standards, which is why the shipping cost is so high -- I think she charges around $40 shipping.

I'm going to go ahead and offer coroplast on my site. In fact, I started on it late last week but didn't get the PayPal coding finished. Hoping to work on it yet this weekend. I'm going to sell it in full sheets that will ship as 2 halves. I ordered large shipping boxes that are 12" wide, 12" thick by 48" long. This should allow me to fold the two half sheets along the fluting and not have to score it or bend against the grain. Hoping that works a little better.

Cost will be $29 for a full sheet of colored coroplast, including shipping, and $27 for white including shipping. Is that reasonable?

Oh yeah, that's reasonable!!

So, you mean if I order coroplast, I'll get the whole thing (4'x8' sheet)? I'm sorry, I don't really understand the 2 halves thing. You mean you'll cut the coroplast by half?

What colors will you be able to have? And when will it be available for ordering?

I'm so excited!! I want to order already! :D

I think I have the prices listed incorrectly on the site, but here are the colors.

I'm hoping to have it set up to order by tomorrow. ;-)

That's great! I was planning on ordering green, but now I see navy blue, I think it's very pretty, and it matches the rug in our living room!

First, though, I'll call the local sign store and see if it carries navy blue (something I doubt). If it doesn't, I'm ordering from you!

I always wondered why people don't just roll the full sheets up into cylinders and ship them that way? I had to roll mine into a cylinder to fit in my car and it was fine that way. o.O </random perusal>

Because if you roll it too tight, it bends and breaks. You can only make the cylinder so small. I roll it to fit into our mid-size car, but the diameter is still pretty large.

I even looked at the possibility of rolling it and shipping in a huge box rolled, but the width is just too big.

I just received my Cavy Kit already and it is great! Thank you so much for putting something like this together. I had been meaning to try to put one together myself but got frustrated trying to find all the supplies. I love the card inside listing dangerous meds and warning signs of cavy illness.

It's a wonderful resource and I feel better prepared for an emergency!

I need some opinions. I took coroplast off my site temporarily because I'm still having trouble finding a good way to ship it. Scording and folding just doesn't produce the results I want, and boxes large enough to ship the stuff are expensive. I want to keep costs as low as possible so I can offer the sheets at a good price, plus keep damage to a minimum (if at all).

I found these last night while looking through my shipping catalog, and wondered if this might be an option:

These pads come in 48" x 48", so I was wondering if I could simply put the two sheets of coroplast between two sheets of these corrugated pads, tape securely with strapping tape around all four corners, and ship that way -- rather than using an actual box.

Thoughts? (I'm using UPS for all shipments).

I'm betting UPS will manage to damage it. I sure understand your trying to find a good shipping option though.

Depending on how careful UPS will be, I think it's a great idea.
