Jo - Betty Boop is actually a TSW, she's got a big blotch of black on her other rump. Here's a pic.

Another interesting fact... Kramer was from a pet store. Both his parents were Smooth Shorthaired Americans. His brother and sisters were all smooth haired. I think they were trying to breed Dutch colored pigs because they were all like that.

CocoBean is a tortoiseshell.

That's no problem, Josephine. You can use any o my pics on whatever page you want.

I do remember reading on a pro-breeding forum that ridgebacks are really just bad abbys, but I'm not sure of that.

Here's a mockup of the pics you have suggested. I cropped them to a max size of 540 pixels wide (some were too small to resize larger). If it gets too picture heavy, some of the pics will turn into links so it is not a bear to load.

Ugh, sorry Tammy. You are certainly right. What a difference a pic makes!

Wow, Lynx, that's nice. I would break up the descriptions some into complete sentences or phrases. I guess I didn't think that the descriptions I added would be permanent captions.

Tammy's Betty should be a Tortoiseshell and White, not a Broken as I thought from that original pic.

I think I decided Heddwyn was Cream? I guess I'd better round up some other color people.

I think if we call Betty Boop a TSW, maybe use a different pic? People may not notice the black at all.

I'm just trying to get a framework up. We need your text too (perhaps on a separate page).

At least it's a start.

I appreciate it. As long as you'll put up with my editing ;)

I've got to get up early tomorrow for work and need my beauty sleep. I may not get back to the board until tomorrow night--depends on how my day goes. The day after a holiday with the part-time vet can definitely be asking for trouble!

My silkie himalayan pic is of a 4 or 5 month old pig if I remember correctly. Hence why the coat was shorter.

That page is brilliant.

Nice work everyone involved! So often I doubt myself when deciding what breeds and varieties the pigs are that come to us.

Sooty I've not got a clue

Updated photo of all three

And finally a side view of all three
http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w26/LucyannCavanagh/guinea%20pigs/diffrencesinmarkings.jpg

Top Finn, middle Patch, bottom Sooty. You can see Sooty's markings a lot better.

I had a hard job finding the Billy/Bobby images, I loved these little fellas. By the way, Bobby was pretty huge for a guinea pig.
I hope these images helped.

Please remember to stick to links only so this thread doesn't take so long to load (I edited the above thread and removed the image tags).

Tammy, that pic is too small, I think. I'm thinking now that maybe we can just point out in text that there is black in the coat.

Josephine, should you wish to have any line edited, just copy the line here and below it the text to be replaced (it will be easier for me to find if I can mindlessly do a search).

O.K, how about this for descriptions:

ABYSSINIAN - LibbyLou's Foster Broken Color Cream & White Shorter coat.
ABYSSINIAN - LibbyLou's Foster, Broken Color Cream & White
This cavy has a shorter coat, which is most breed appropriate.

ABYSSINIAN - LibbyLou's Foster Broken Color Black & White Longer coat with different rosettes.

This cavy has a longer coat with different rosettes.

ABYSSINIAN - Sakura Broken Color Black & White Aby with a longer tail.
ABYSSINIAN - Tracis' Sakura, Broken Color Black & White
This Aby has a longer tail. Not uncommon in many pets.

Add Tracis' Aby Ginny? (Do I have the name right?)
ABYSSINIAN - Tracis' Ginny, Roan
This is a top view of rosettes on an Abyssinian.
(I hope that is roaning and not grizzling? Otherwise, she's a B/C Golden Agouti, White, and whatever else I can't see.)

AMERICAN - LibbyLou's Foster Tortoiseshell & White
AMERICAN - LibbyLou's Foster, Tortoiseshell & White (TSW)

American Satin, please take out my pics of Luciole and Dazzle. I don't think they're as good as the others.

AMERICAN SATIN - Emma, a Red Eyed Orange and Cannelle, a Red
AMERICAN SATIN - Josephine's Emma, Red Eyed Orange (REO) and Cannelle, Red

AMERICAN SATIN - Heddwyn

(I think the Kramer pic description is consistent with the rest)

TEXEL - Tammy's Betty Boop, Broken Color Red & White
TEXEL - Tammy's Betty Boop, Tortoiseshell & White (TSW)
She has a patch of Black on her rump that is partially hidden in this picture.

TEXEL - Tammy's Coco Bean, Tortoiseshell.

I think these are more consistent and the descriptions are easier to read if broken up on different lines and with commas?
