Pellets for 4.5 month old and senior boar living together
I recently adopted a 4.5 month old boar and paired him with a senior (6 years). I know babies should have alfalfa pellets, will it be bad for the senior pig to eat them? My understanding is that pigs are no longer babies at 6 months, so in theory I'd only need the alfalfa for a month and a half or so. Since the baby likely didn't get ideal nutrition prior to being adopted, should I feed him alfalfa pellets past the 6 month mark? He was surrendered to the Humane Society as part of an unplanned pregnancy when two pigs were mis-sexed. My older boar has been on Oxbow's Cavy Cuisine since I adopted him years ago. Thanks!
