Elsie's ugly teeth

I'm confused then. Isn't the stuff called chlorhexadine and isn't it also used as a dental rinse? The pharmacist said I needed a prescription for it.
I suppose it's a moot point now however. I just went to check her paw and was able to express a lot of pus out of a tiny opening. I put a warm compress on it until there was just blood coming out and then soaked her paw in the diluted betadine.
Thanks for your help. I feel better now. I think she will be alright.

Chlorhexadine is available in several different preparations, some of which require a prescription and some that do not. Your pharmacist seems to be not as familiar with OTC preps as he might should be. Agreed it's a moot point but next time you happen by, you should look for your own personal satisfaction.
Puss sounds dangerous. Can she get to the vet before Monday?

Yes, it's on the underside of her paw.
I just spoke to the vet. She wants her on the antibiotic for 10 days. She said the Betadine would work just as well. I also put some antibiotic cream on the paw and she said that was fine too.
I also switched the girls bedding to fleece.
Old age for guinea pigs is tough.

- I GAVE, dammit!
I've never dealt with bumblefoot - just with scabby feet from poor pigs being housed on wire.
In that instance, I soaked them as often as possible - 3 times a day at least or so.
Bumblefoot in heart issues is usually caused by poor circulation. I wonder if her enalapril needs upping?
