Ah, I see you aren't familiar with this forums views on breeding.

So I assume he came from a petshop?

In this case quarantine really needs to be behind closed doors. You'll also need to treat him with topical ivermectin, whether or not you see signs of mites:

You can do this very easily at home yourself.

Is breeding not a good thing? I have only had piggies for a few years now, and have not really discussed this with anyone. I know some pet store/shelter animals don't seem as healthy, to me anyway. That was my only option at this time. Where can I get this ivermectin? only through a vet I assume?

Our guinea pig Mome Rath has gas bloat. What is the best way, and quantity, of infant-strength simethicone (20 mg drops) to adminsister to Mome Rath for her gas bloat? We have started her on a timothy hay diet today. Also, do vitamin supplements affect such gas situations?

I wouldn't give vitamin supplements during a bloat episode.

I think the simethicone dose is 1/4 of the smallest baby dose. The simethicone I've used has come with a dropper, and I've used that to dose the pig.

Thank you for your responses. The hay seems to be helping. We're holding off on the simethicone until contacting an "exotic pet" (a California classification for Guinea pigs) doctor today. The page you referred us to was helpful. Where would we get a vibrator cushion?

I bought mine on Amazon. It was originally designed to go under the baby mattress but I've re-purposed it, and it works fine. Freaks the piggies, but it works!

You can also get them at Walmart and many larger drugstores.

Sacto is toward the bottom of that page.

Good luck to Mome Rath and to you. Please keep us posted.
