Here are Peaches's x-rays: http://www.guinealynx.info/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1367610#1367610

She's got a fused spine and pretty terrible arthritis especially in her knee that means she walks like she just got off a horse.

Cosequin changed her whole life-she is a new pig because of it. We also give her meloxicam, divided into a morning and evening dose so she gets enough to last her through the day.

Incidentally, the vet said that Jackie specifically had lumbar spondylosis. Poor little dude. He was very grumpy with me and didn't even want his yummy meds yesterday when I got him home from the vet. But this morning he was so happy to have TWO syringes of tasty goodness (Metacam and Bactrim) to slurp on, so I guess I'm forgiven.

He seems to feel a little less pain when he sleeps like this:

Oh, darling Jackie. Be well and comfortable. I have no advice as I'm just dealing with simple arthritis but considering how uncomfortable my little one can be, Jackie has my sympathy.

Handsome Jackie! He does look more comfortable there.

Sending good thoughts.

Jackie's becoming an old man. Wow, time sure flies. Jackie and my Peanut would make a good old couple with their arthritis problems. They both could use a "scooter" to get around. I hope Jackie's ol bones feel better. Does he perk up around Suzi? Maybe he needs some girl lovin.

Jackie's 5 now.

His back hurts so much he doesn't even try to hump Suzi and chase her around. :(

Jackie is apparently feeling well enough to attempt to divebomb off a chair while having his cage cleaned. Little brat!

His Weaver beds came in the mail. He likes them very much, especially the one I got specifically for Suzi. Pictures soon!

Stinkpot hasn't gained any weight, but he seems to be a lot happier. He's begging for food and medication, running away from The Hand, and he looks a little more comfortable. He's decided not to sleep in his Weaver beds, but just to poop in them. *sigh*

Hey, Jackie sounds like he is back to his normal weird self. Glad he's feeling better. I am sure he considers the WEAVER bed to be the perfect safe spot for his beloved poop collection.

Jackie likes his Weaver beds. A lot. To the point of making poop cakes in them (lots of poop, lots of pee, a little hay).

I've been giving him the Cosequin and I think it may be starting to help. He tried to hump his mommy today and then sniffed her butt! To give him the Cosequin, as it's a powder that doesn't dissolve in anything, I mix it with a little baby food and then a spoonful of pellets to create a baby-food-and-cosequin-coated-pellet dish. At first he was very leery of this but now that his mom pigs out on them, he likes them.

What is the Cosequin for Sal? His arthritis? If so, how much do you give him and have you seen improvement. My little old lady Peanut has arthritis and it could help her too.

I use half a capsule every night. Jackie and Suzi share the Cosequin-baby-food-pellets so he gets about 1/4 a capsule. I do think it seems to have helped. He was running laps through his paper today.
