and came up with 4288 entries!! Yikes! Is there a better way to search that I am not aware of?

Basically, the male I have has a metal ear tag - is this put on them to identify them as males in the pet store? Can I safely remove it or should I just let it be?

No, it's from the breeder. They usually use them so they can show them. He likely was a cull from a breeder or originally came from a breeder.

When you do a search, click search for all terms, not just either.

You can remove it but you have to do it a certain way so as not to tear it.

thank you, I must be doing my searches wrong.

I wouldn't of guessed his previous owner purchased him from a breeder.

The next vet visit, I'll get Dr. Mac to remove it.

Under the search for keywords bar, it gives you two options - search for any terms (which will get you all threads that talk about ears or tags, not necessarily ear tags) and search for all terms (ear tags).

You want the latter one.

My vet used a bird band remover to remove one from a pig that I got that had one in her ear when the family won her at a county fair.
