Fiddleheads?

We've been busy picking fiddleheads all week and I was wondering if the pigs can have some?

I searched but nothing came up??

Its a fern -- or rather the fern sprout. I never knew you could eat them.

A quick google search seems to talk about possible toxicity of fiddleheads (but then other hits seemed to say that's not true). I'm not sure if I'd risk it with the pigs. But I'm just basing that on what I found on google.

OK, I know they are extremly healthy for humans

It's a HUGE thing around here and it is fiddlehead season now :)

I just read through that site and came across this

Fiddlehead ferns are a good source of vitamins A and C. Fiddleheads should not be served raw as they have a slight bitterness until cooked and may cause stomach upset if eaten raw in quantity. Health Canada advises that fresh fiddleheads must be properly cooked before being consumed.

So maybe it's better if I dont give them any.
