She posted her piggies for adoption because she can't fly with them to her new house.

She is desperate to keep them. Can someone give me some numbers I can give her of airlines that they've recently flown on with guinea pigs?

I want to help!

Airtran airways will allow pigs in cabin.

I've flown Airtran into San Diego. Their main hub is in Denver and Atlanta.

Does Delta still take in small animals in the cabin?

You have to check which airlines allow you to take pets. Some let you take one carrier into the cabin but some others make you check them as baggage :(

This is what the girl sent me:

Hi, I am so sorry to bother you again, but I went onto airtran's website and this is what it said:

Can I travel with a pet?

We accept small, domesticated cats, dogs and birds that will fit in an approved carrier under the seat.

The pet kennel is limited to maximum dimensions of 8.5 inches high x 17 inches long x 12 inches wide.
The carrier must be leak proof and ventilated on at least two sides.
There is no weight restriction on pets.
The pet must remain in the carrier and under the seat for the duration of the flight.
this is what the other airlines say too. Do you know if that person who brought their guinea pig told the airline that it was a guinea pig? or did they say it was another type of pet and got through?

Thanks

What should I tell her now?

As far as I know, there is NO domestic carrier that allows guinea pigs. Delta was the last and has recently revised their policy to only include dogs and cats.

Well that is just a load of crap! What's wrong with a guinea pig? This sucks!

They can still travel in the cargo hold. I don't know where she is in CA, but I imagine it's too hot for that now just about everywhere. It's crap and all due to guinea pigs being "rodents." Bah.

It sucks! They are adorable. I wish I could help her find a place for them. I'd take them too, because they are cute. I asked permission to show the photo's here!

They kinda look like abby's with the hair sticking out, but not as long. One is the color of Edward, and the other's colors match Alexander, but in a row, from front to back tan, white and black. So cute!

Tell her to call the airline (airtran). They should allow a pig in cabin despite what the website says.

Look at them! Her ad says one though, I asked her if there were two!

Thanks Erin!

If you get some kind of special permission, it needs to be signed in writing. The last thing that needs to happen is to get turned away at the gate when there are NO options left.

Erin, I'm sorry but I really don't think Airtran allows pigs, or ever has. Where did you hear this?

She could try the new petairways that just started. If they don't go from SD to Philly, then they go from LA to NY.

I would tell her to check them out.

Here they are, and I think they can go separately because they fight a bit.

Any takers?
