Petco (yeah, I know) is currently holding a contest Coolest Pet Pad Contest
The important thing about this contest is that it allows users to submit pictures of their pet's "pad" and a short description. I propose that GuineaLynx users flood this contest with pictures of our C&C cages. They may inspire people who visit the site to build their own cages.
Mention that the C&Cs are easier to build, that pigs have more space to run around, are healthier and are friendlier and easy to pet, and that the humane society recommends cages that are at least 7.5 feet.
I know it's Petco, but maybe this is a way to turn their contest against them? And I'm sure some posters here, like Momo, have great cages that might even win the prize.
Petco Coolest Pet Pad Contest
Has anybody sent an entry already? I wanted to send mine too but wanted to make sure this is fine with respect to our advocacy.
i just did it. At the end of the form, it asks you to pick some items from their site that help make it the coolest pad. None of my stuff came from PetCo, its the most expensive of the 3 major pet stores closest to me.
Anyway, I selected a water bottle, a food bowl, some ferret toys and a cozy bed. I tried to find Oxbow hay and pellets to list, but they don't sell Oxbow on their site. I wasn't about to suggest Kaytee
This is what I put in my description of the coolest pad.
"Guinea Pigs are very active pets that must have plenty of room for zoomies (running around at full speed), and must always have plenty of hay and pellets.
I built a 6 x2.5 ft cage for my 2 males. It is large enough for them to run around, and has plenty of Hiding places. It also as a 2nd floor for their hay and food and water.
There is a covered tunnel they like to hide in, and their fluffy beds are under the 2nd level. They have various wooden toys hanging on the strips that they like to play in."
Last edit. It did say that it would be posted within 72 hours pending review.

LOL Pending review? I guess they knew there are some people that doesn't like these stores so they have to watch out for those.. And I couldn't post anyway, since I don't have stuffs from them and nothing can be seen on my cage that might have came from them :p
