Cuy Data

We have debated it some with several. Especially considering that if breeders are continuing to use these cuys, they will cross them with normal sized pigs too. The full cuy ones are easy to distinguish, like Chary said. I have more pics coming soon and wanted to note that the Sasquatch "foot" pictures above were taken by Djakarta when this guy was only 900 grams. Just a baby, really. LOL

Tica & Illary, females
rescued 8/2010 by Wee Companions
They were abandoned in a Petco, had been up for adoption for 3 months at the time we took them in. Super skittish and had URI symptoms.
Last known weights Feb. 2011: T -1880 grams, I - 1750 grams
Red & white American.
No abnormalities.
Very hard to catch, even after months of intensive handling in foster care.
No known health problems once recovered from URI.
Transferred to Arizona's Piggie Poo Rescue and subsequently adopted.
These pics were when they first arrived and weighed "only" 1450-1500 grams. That is a 12 oz can of Coca Cola next to them for size reference.

Jem, female, born approx. May 2010

Dark eyed white.
No known abnormalities
Extremely skittish, hard to catch and hard to hold. (Only likes Charybdis)

I'm pretty sure one of the Guinea pigs we had in the past was a cuy.
Her name was Caramel
Female
We got her in October 2008 at a Petsmart in Rhode Island.
weight about six to six and a half pounds
She was a red and white crested
Her feet were normal
She didn't get along with the other two piggies we had at the time and she was rather grumpy.
Caramel didn't have any known health problems however, she did die rather suddenly when she was about two and a half years old. She weighed a good six pounds when she died.
We got her when she was about two months old. She was normal sized for a young guinea pig but she seemed to grow about two times faster and larger than any of the other piggies we had.
I would post a picture but I'm not sure how to do that.
