The Legend Of Stripey
Friday morning, Monkey was still pretty groggy when we put the food in his cage. He just lifted his little head and then went back to sleep. Nothing out of the ordinary. He's done this before. He'll get up later in the morning and eat. (Monkey really does "sleep in" from time to time) When I got home from work about 5:45pm, his position hadn't changed and his food hadn't been touched.
Monkey's breathing was loud and labored. There was a crusting yellow discharge from his nose and a foul green liquid coming from his mouth. None of this had been present that morning. He couldn't stand. He couldn't really swallow. At the emergency vet, his temp. was only 86 degrees, and his belly was extremelly painful to touch.
Given how far gone Monkey already was I wasn't about to put the poor little handsome man through full bore diagnostics and surgery. So, we had him put to sleep.
