Coco is doing soo well. He is taking the TMS antibiotics with no ill effects. There have been pieces of tooth coming out of his "hole", no more pus, and it now appears to be filling in with granulation tissue as if it is healing. There is no further bump under his jaw, and no more discomfort when I touch his chin. So it appears that everything is healing nicely! So fingers crossed that this is finally on the mend. Thanks again for all of your support.
Wednesday morning, I noticed he hadn't eaten his veggies overnight without the chin sling on. Since then he will not eat any veggies except a few pieces of lettuce. He is barely eating pellets or critical care now, and maybe a little hay. The only water he will take is from a syringe.
He looks like he is in abdominal discomfort as he sits hunch backed in his cage. I have checked his mouth thoroughly and don't believe it is his mouth that is the issue, as he can eat pellets and critical care fine, but is choosing not to eat his green peppers/other veggies.
I have him on the highest dose of Metacam every 12 hours, and have just added on some Buphenorphine. He appears to be more comfortable, but he still is only eating small quantities.
He also started to urinate an orange juice coloured pee yesterday.
I have been feeding him about 50ml of water a day now.
I have radiographed him, he has an opacity in his bladder, but up near his pelvis. This is the same opacity that was present when I brought him down to the specialist back in February. It hasn't moved or increased in size.
He has no problem urinating, no pain, no blood when I looked under the microscope and urinates large quanities as I am feeding him lots of fluid. Although it is very sludgy, but I think this is just from dehydration, not from actual stones.
I have contacted a vet here to get him in for an ultrasound, they are supposed to get back to me today. As the specialists are 5 hours away.
I almost thought I would have to euthanize him last night as his belly got big and hard. He was also twitching a bit in discomfort. I find him a lot hunched over, eyes squinted, and he flicks his ears (which I heard was a sign of pain). I massaged his belly and gave him his Metacam and he started to improve and ate a little bit of Critical Care.
I'm not sure what Im on here for, I really think his body is just slowly shutting down. I just feel like Im just sitting here watching him die. I don't want to have him euthanized if this is just temporary, but my gut is that his body is shutting down slowly. Any advice, support, would be appreciated. Thanks!
