I will try and learn the proper way to use this site..sorry..I did email the first two who wrote and I do not know what happened. Their advice helped and Axel took his vitamin c and ate some and drank some..I called several specialists with the help of peoples suggestions. I found out about Care Credit...applied for it and was denied..the girl felt sooo bad. I am still not sure what else I could have done..it costs more to go to a 24 hour place and they would not do payments..I was hoping to get him to Eugene by 8am...I will let everyone know what OSU says ....in about a week the vet said..they packed him in ice and sent him today. Do I come back to this same place to keep putting what happened to Axel? Or do I go somewhere else?? Please let me know LYNX

I am too. Not handling it very well. The vials that were full of the fluid they pulled from his scrotum were also sent...10 grams...it was soooooo painful for him. Slash is so sad..he crawled pretty far away from her I think..I am glad they had his last night together..I tried petting him a lot and keeping him hydrated..he drank from a syringe for two hours..he eventually just didnt want it anymore and I finally fell asleep. I am glad people like you are here.

Since this is Axel's medical thread, come back to this one to report what OSU finds out.

I'm so very sorry for your loss. It sounds like a truly horrible experience even without the death of your baby. I just had my 2 boys neutered. Everything seemed fine until about 2 weeks later when I noticed my Scatter biting at the (mostly healed) incision site, leaving one large (for a cavy) scab and one tiny one. When I took him back into the vet, she checked him out & with some poking found a lump where there wasn't supposed to be. She asked to do an exploratory surgery and later found a pus filled sack (I assume "infection" = pus) that had actually "walled" itself off and although wasn't spreading, probably would have ruptured & done so if not found. She said she'd seen this in other animals but never a guinea pig before. My husband was the one to pick Scatter up from vet & he took a pic of the actually sack to share the grossness with me. Not sure if I should post the pic, but to me it seemed very large compared to the palm of the vet's hand.

You could start a medical thread on your guinea pig and post the picture there with your description of the problem. Might be helpful to other readers.
