It is very fascinating to me to watch herd dynamics. And how much they change depending on who's in the group!

jacqueline - I love watching my guinea pig tv with a cup of tea and slice of toast in the morning! When I'm feeling devious I like to stand in their cage in my bunny slippers and watch the herd trying to work out what on earth has invaded their space.

Scribble likes to scream and rumble at the slippers.
Maisie likes to step on them
Meribel thinks they are not very interesting
Rue likes to eat the eyes!!!
And everyone else just seems confused or more interested in whether the legs have food.

Do you notice much difference in how your pigs behave with changes in the weather? I swear they get more pissy when a storm is coming!

Jacqueline - I notice changes as a sow goes into heat but not so much because of weather. However where I live in Scotland we don't get many dramatic weather changes and the pigs aren't in a room where I spend a lot of time watching pig-tv so I might be missing things.

BE - hehehe, she is very lovely to cuddle and she has a lovely face!

Beware the Pig who is Only a Bum
By Maisie the little pig

From the bedroom upstairs we can plainly hear
The alarm declaring: Breakfast Time is here!

"Get Up!" and "Come ON!" the alarm clock will sing
Until grumbling and moaning the person gives in

Roar of the kettle followed by a very distinct 'slurm'
We heard the fridge open! Morning veggies will come!

Wheeking excited, swarms a guinea pig hive
Morning persons need encouragement to quickly arrive

She stumbles through the door toward the cage with a grunt
Then scatters the veggies extra to me, the little runt

Hay bags are refilled and piggies dash to be sure
That what they've chosen to eat is the best and not poor

But wait! Did we forget to notice something suspicious over there
Where hay should be shown there's a ginger fizz of hair

The derrière of this piggie suggests it's only hay she will munch
But there's a suspicious slurping soon followed by a familiar crunch

Quickly I sprint to see what's happening inside
Where a piggie is eating something she feels she should hide

And look, come and see! It was melon she found!
The best slice of melon tossed onto the ground

Today I have learned as I try to get some
Be aware of a piggie who is only a bum.

Ahahahaha! Piggy poetry! I LOVE it! More, more, more!

(And, who, exactly, is that ginger bummed bum who stole and stashed the melon rind?)

Aww, thanks guys!

The ginger bottom belongs to one of my flatmate's guinea pigs who lives in our combined herd called Fizz! :)
