My first is oldest. I named him Peekaboo, because for the first few weeks all I ever saw were bright little eyes peeking out of his hidey. He's mostly black (lots of red highlights, though), with a slight, white crest on his head and one white thigh. The crest is small enough that from the front it looks like white eyebrows pointing down at his nose. He's a sweetie, very gentle. Vet & I think he's at lest 4, possibly 5 yrs old despite my being told he was a year when I got him from the rescue. I think no one bothered to ask the original owner.

Scatter was my second. I got him as a companion for Peek. He was 12 weeks old and already almost as big as Peek. I was showing him to the little girl who lives next door, and since I couldn't think of a good name, I asked her for suggestions. Scatter was one that I could live with and it fit him perfectly. When I finally found an exotics vet to take them to, they'd been together for a few weeks. She discovered scabs all over Peek's behind from Scatter biting as Peek ran from him. I felt awful for not finding them earlier, but I was still VERY uneducated & waiting for them to come to me for snuggles. I didn't realize most of them run from "The Big Hand" automatically. Anyway, I sadly divided the cage, and ordered a non-C&C from Amazon. And started looking for a couple of girls to give them companionship. I knew I'd have to neuter the boys, but didn't realize just how dangerous that would be. I hadn't found this website yet, lol. Duh, Scatter's description... He is brown & white. He has a brown patch around each eye, and on part of each ear, with another that almost circles his "waist". He also has the kind of permanent eyeliner we ladies would kill for. I absolutely love his eyes! He's funny & sweet. And tries to mount everything that moves, lol. Constantly.

I had to wait for a couple of months for a girl, but finally got a call. I went down to choose from several 6 week old babies. I chose one who is mostly brown, but has some white on her, including a streak that starts at her nose, runs up her head then down her neck before taking a sharp turn down her right shoulder. I'd chosen the name Flossie before I even got her. I remembered reading children's' books about some twins - Boxcar Twins, I think, and one of the girls was named Flossie. Don't know why it popped into my head, but there it was, and my little tiny baby was named. She's the one who currently has me very worried because of a medical issue. She goes to a true exotics specialist next week.

By this time we discovered Peek & Scatter had lice. I was glad Flossie had never been near them so didn't treat her also. Bad idea. I don't think she ever got them, but since then, they've all been treated several times (several weeks, several times) because she seemed to scratch so much.

A couple of weeks later, I got another call - they'd had a litter born unexpectedly (not realizing mom was pregnant), and I could come down, sex them and pick mine out. I ran straight down, sexed as best as I could, picked & prayed it was a girl. She is part Abyssinian, fuzzy to no end; black & white. Her nose is white then the color narrows to run up between her eyes. That white streak sticks straight up, and grows unevenly so part of the hair is taller than the rest, making her remind me of a rhinoceros. My daughter in law called her a unicorn last Christmas, which seems nicer, lol. She was so tiny, only 2 days old! Scared, she'd curl up into a little black ball, and if you were lucky you might see her bright little beady eyes peeking at you. I took a picture and posted it to Facebook, asking for name votes: Oreo or Fuzzbutt. I think Oreo won by 1 vote, but it seems more male to me, so I made an executive decision and she became Fuzzbutt. When I finally got to bring her home, she went into the quarantine cage with Flossie, who was still a baby. I figured with both being so small, they could handle the pet store cage for a few weeks.

Fuzzbutt was just about wild when I brought her home. I think I was the only one to ever pick her up. Every time I picked her up, I got bit. And I got bit HARD. Still do. Several times I've almost dropped her out of surprise. She earned the nickname "Mangler". As long as I don't scare her, she's a perfect little snugglebug, but I dang near need bandages if I do something she doesn't like. She's 1.5 yrs old now and only bites when I do my weekly inspection. And I think she does it only after it's all done and we're headed back to her cage. (Excitement? I'll tell myself that next time, lol.) That bite of her's is still as hard as ever.

So there you have it: descriptions of my masters. I also have 2 cats, who are just as demanding and much harder to get away from.
