Businesses should be as free as possible from government regulation -- that is, if they can conduct their businesses honorably, ethically and morally, which they obviously can't, so at this point, regulate the hell out of them.
I think that's what I like about Sanders' brand of socialism. He's not in favor of the government controlling businesses, but of regulations that make them behave fairly and accountably. There's a big difference between socialism and democratic socialism, and Sanders has always defined himself as the latter.

Why should American businesses be allowed to use offshore corporations to avoid paying fair taxes? How is it that GE, a multibillion dollar company, pays no income taxes? Why did the largest banks in the country, "too big to fail," get billions of dollars in bailouts when they themselves caused the problems? There's nothing fair about that, and I'm beyond ready for some fair.

My problem with Trump (well, ok, I've got nothing BUT problems with Trump, but this is one of the biggies) is the same as with Fiorina and Carson -- they have no government experience, and their mode of operation is as CEO, or in Carson's case, god. The qualities that make a good CEO (Fiorina wasn't even a good one) or a good neurosurgeon are not the ones that make good governors. They're like Perot -- they speak, and they expect all the frogs to ask "How high?" on the way up. Good government demands tact, and compromise, and attention to detail. Carson may attend to details, but other two don't. But I think all three would be disasters as president. The country doesn't need a boss, it needs a leader.

I thought the world of Jon Huntsman. He was, apparently and allegedly, too intelligent and well-spoken for the majority of people to relate to. That tells you something. :-/

Ayn Rand did not believe that excesses should not be curbed. She believed that the highest and best instincts, morals and ethics of hardworking people of all classes would do the curbing. She was wrong, at least in today's world. She never foresaw artificially created financial instruments serving no purpose other than to create artificial wealth, the losers be damned.

I want to read what everyone has posted before saying anything else (which I haven't had time to do on the gun thread either, leaving Erinspigs with no backup. :-/)

I'll still take Trump over Walker any day.

Yeah, Jon Huntsman was a DIPLOMAT (and diplomatic, of the old school) and SPOKE CHINESE and perhaps even other furrin' languages. Can't have that in the White House. Honestly, it is head-shakingly disastrous that the current field of nut cases in the Republican primary are anything other than jokes. I'm not a big fan of the late William Buckley, but at least he was willing to call out the John Birchers and allied ideological lunatics. Alas.

Very entertaining.

It hurts that it hit on so many truths.

Well, Walker's out, which is good news for the nation but not so great for us in Wisconsin.

Is he, now? That is good news indeed! (had not yet read it)

Now to get rid of some of the other dangerous Republican candidates, leaving?

Republicans for Bernie?
