Abandoned pig in Mt. Vernon

I just received this from a rescue friend, wanted to share:

Owner left 3 year-old female guinea pig at the Mt. Vernon shelter because he is leaving by plane on Monday, and the airline rejected his taking the guinea pig on the plane (owner didn't find this out until last minute, obviously:-( ).

The Mt. Vernon shelter normally does not take in small animals so they are not well-equipped to care for this poor piggie, though I know they will give her the best care that they can. Megan told me they're putting the GP cage in the office where they really don't have the room but there are cats roaming around the shelter elsewhere so this is their only option.

OMG, she is adorable!

Let's see: (holding out both hands, palms up) Piggie? (sinks left hand down a couple of inches) Divorce? (sinks right hand down 10 inches) Piggie? Divorce? (one hand then the other rising and falling with weight of choice) Such choices! Argh, if only this had happened a few months from now! (We just paid off the house, so money will be a little less tight now, or once we get some savings going again.) Shoot! Dang it!!!
