Did anyone go to any of the Womens Marches? I went to the one in my local city, which is in the heart of Republican-land. We had over 3,000 (organizers were expecting half that). It was a positive, uplifting experience! First time I've ever done anything like that. I'm so glad I went.

Yes, I went. Wouldn't have missed it for the world.

I think every march far exceeded the expected numbers.

Some people just heard about the march and showed up so they did not know in advance who might come. I posted this on another thread if you missed this page of pictures from all over the world of the Woman's March:

Husband went to our local one with about 10,000 others. My niece went to DC. I can't wait to hear her story.

Oh, and regarding the march, reportedly there were Canadians and others denied entry to the US to participate. The Guardian has details, DailyKos has a summary. This is outrageous:

Scientists' march on Washington:

Hope this happens & gets a sizable turnout. Trunp's treatment of science is repressive & scary - he's tightening the screws & trying to gag the scientists.

I was aware of some of this. Rachel puts together more info - I didn't remember who the EPA guy was that Trunp planned to put in place - so sad!

Facebook went from a few hundred to 350K yesterday. Sister marches organizing all over the country. I expect Houston's will be huge, with NASA and all the oil and chemical companies here.

What has been done to the EPA (gag order, a block on distribution of grant money for vital programs) is horrible.

Without science, we are nothing.

I really want to go to the Scientists March on Washington. I hope it's done at a time where those of us in academia can attend, like the last Saturday of spring break.

COI, a lot of cities are organizing sister marches, so there may be one closer to you. We need nationwide turnout.

She does a great job pulling things together. Scary and chilling.
