Broken leg?
Update: 9 days into Baytril treatment, Victoria has been moving around a little bit more. She's taking her Baytril like a champ, she also takes Metacam and probiotics. We kept her on gas drops, a low dose, because during the first few days of Baytril treatment she wasn't eating or pooping as much as we got worried. Her appetite is back now and she's getting Critical Care a few times a day too. She eats it from a spoon or bowl. Vet said treatment would take from 2 to 6 weeks depending on how she was doing, so we're almost done with the 2 first weeks and we'll talk to our vet to see if she'll prescribe more Baytril.
My pig's back legs are getting better every day. She's still on Baytril, Metacam and she's eating, pooping, drinking. She's walking. Today my fiance came home to her not putting any weight on her front left paw and there's the picture of it. It seems to be swollen. We don't understand if this is Bumblefoot or if it's something else. She seems to be getting better but this... we don't understand.
She hasn't lost any weight. She's eating critical care daily as a supplement.
We called the vet. Vet said this is bumblefoot and that the treatment she's getting is the right one. That since her back legs are almost recovered already what probably happened is that she had bumblefoot in the back legs and when we started the treatment it migrated to her front paw. So vet assured us she was on the right treatment and she should keep improving in the next few days, if not we should give her a call and bring her in. She's still on Baytril and Metacam. We'll keep a close eye on her.
Hi guys,
A little update: we're still fighting Bumblefoot.... It's been almost a month since we started the treatment. Even though her back legs are getting better she has no strenght on them and the infection had a chance to spread to one of her front paws.... Swelling is down on the front paw and her back legs are getting better every day. Anyway, she's at 636grams right now, eating and pooping normally.... she's also eating critical care but we don't know how to help her gain weight. She was at 693grams a month ago when she got sick. So we don't know if this is normal for her situation or she should be eating more stuff... We appreciate any advice.

She had xrays taken in two different appointments and both were fine. No infection on the bone. Just swelling of the soft tissue of the legs. Back legs are getting better but she doesn't use them a lot. She walks here and there but not like a normal active pig. The swelling of the front paw is slowly disappearing but is still there. She said if she isn't getting better we should take her to an especialist in Colorado or Washington.... We'll make an appointment with a different vet to ask for a third opinion on this situation. She's been on Baytril for almost 4 weeks, so we'll ask about switching AB.

The lymph system may be involved. I mentioned a possible heart condition. Perhaps read over:

Here are your two swollen foot pictures:
I had suggested a different antibiotic when you mentioned an infection. It might be worthwhile to find out if there is actually an infection present. I believe you'd have to stop the antibiotics for a while and check the blood for signs of infection. Your vet would know more than I would about this.
