I am so glad she's still with you and enjoying life. Cherish every minute, it goes all so quickly. So happy she's enjoying her cuddles.

To everyone's surprise, Charlotte is still doing well. She was given a week to live a week ago and is still stubbornly enjoying life. I made them a blanket fort today. She's definitely still zooming.

Who is the darling piggy with Charlotte? So love their colours and the way the fur goes. So glad the piggies enjoyed playing hide and seek and exploring around. Way to go Charlotte!

That looks like a fun fort! Exploring has to be good for the soul and good for the body.

Happy belated birthday Ginny. Ginny are you one pig? Two pigs? Red pig or new pig? How is Charlotte going? Hoping all is going well!

Charlotte passed away yesterday. She had a quality of life assessment two days earlier, so we can confidently say she was happy. She went in her sleep.

So sorry you lost Charlotte! So happy her passing was peaceful! RIP wee one, now in perfect health and forever young. Munch on the green grass and popcorn to your hearts content. You were loved and will be sadly missed. She will always be with you. Sending big hugs your way and big cuddles to the remaining herd!

Bonding is stressful. They were all doing fine on neutral territory so we moved them in together.... and Red started beating up Francis. Nothing too serious, but she was too scared to stand up for herself. We now have a successful trio (Red, Ginny, Pippa) and Francis on her own in a segregated portion of the run so she can interact through bars. Hoping a slow intro will work better for her.

I also tried to put them in a similar setup outside. Key word tried. There were three guineas in one half of the run and one in the other, then when I went to check on them there was one guinea in the wrong half of the run and the other three loose in the garden. Half an hour later they are all back inside and in disgrace. So glad I taught them to take food from my hands so they don't run when they think I have something for them. We have ruru (owls) in our neighbourhood so if we hadn't found Ginny before they started calling (another half hour or so) we wouldn't hear a peep from her until morning. Stubborn animal wouldn't come out until we got Red out and showered him in treats. Food + jealousy did the trick.

Photo from before the escape. Left to right: Francis, Ginny, Pippa (back), Red (front).

I looked up pictures of the rurus (owls). They are cute! Owls certainly are worrisome predators though. I am glad you got them all in! I remember years ago taking my guinea pigs to my enclosed garden and having them immediately run under shrubbery. The wide open sky is awfully scary.

We found why they all ran. Francis has a cat bite injury. She'll be ok but :((((
