Thanks for the link and good wishes!! I ll do all research about baccterias over the weekend!!

I actually read whole topic about your piggies and respect man, just respect, you re fighter, i am glad they recovered!!!!..I feel the same as you did I swear, when you re losing hope and stuff, how much money and energy people put in their pigs.. amazing, trully amazing. And we have to drive 45 min in one direction to vet!

And if pigs make than you re at least happy. But when Gallimore(yeah jamaican name, too; after Gallimore Sutherland) didnt make it i ve lost great deal of faith in out vet, I aint gonna lie. Altough he said that he didnt foresee it.. I was thinking like, man I didnt sleep at night I did everything to save him, not one time, how many times and i brought it back to him at morning,..than he died in my arms at 8months.. I was so crushed..But we cant go back. I than just decided that I ll enjoy my time with Irie & Ringo(Ziggy is owned by my sister) and finnish having animals. But we re still here. Luckily.

After Irie got issues, I was so..I could barely keep myself together.. But he s sort of stable now..he sneezes but he was worst, he has still discharge, but as I said after azit. it go at least better. HE cries a little when he poops sometimes-he allways pisses at the same time so its hard to say, but you can hear a little sounds in his belly(a little, he cried a lot-I ll ask vet about it anyway, just that we re sure nothing else its involved). As I wrote with benebac it improved a lot. BEside that I have very very sensitive stomach myself and if you dont eat(i usually dont that much) its even worse-it hurt more..so thats why i think Iries belly didnt 100%recovered of antibiotics..it did 80%by now).

And thanks to Lynx too..you guys are the best!! In our countrey you just cant find so much so experienced people so its worse, worse for all..i think I am the first one who knows what benebac is;):)

Thanks.

It was a tough time and I had many a sleepless night with no one around to help. Although becoming a Guinea Pig minder a complete surprise to me they are family so you just do what has to be done.

I was heartbroken when we lost Mu Mu and was determined not to let that happen to the other 3. Every morning when I got up and again when I got home from work I was just so relived to still see their 3 little faces peering at me as if to say "What are you getting so stressed about?"

They were (and still are) eating and sleeping better than I was during that time.

My current source of stress is trying to work out who we can get to look after them when we go on vacation.

I hope once Irie is recovered you get a chance to relax a bit.

Just a thought (and I haven't gone back through the whole thread so apologies if you already mentioned this) but are you giving him any Vitamin C in addition to what he gets from his food. In addition to the meds we were giving Nala and Chunky Vitamin C via syringe for about 7-10 days.

Its really tough..for sure. And if you dont have to go through all this you just cant understand.

I am very sorry for Mu Mu...I read about the other three you have...

I hope you ll find someone..I would have come, hehe:), but we re from Slovenia, so..far away. probably..

No, but I have it at home.. I ll get some syringe from vet and start giving him again..thanks..for about 10days you say..ok.

Tough week ahead of us. Hope we ll write here some good news, cause I also have to see vet with Ringo. I am scared already, but such is life. As his vet once said-I said he s causing(health) problems.. Its good he s causing problems and that we can only hope he ll do that for many years ahead:)

My Wife and daughter were away for a month when the girls all got ill.
The wife is away again at the moment but my daughter is still here this time and helping a lot.
Ive been to a lot of different countries in Europe but not Slovenia. Closest I got was Austria and Italy.

I just checked and the vet had all 3 of ours on 1ml of Vitamin C once a day for 7 days (not 10) when they were ill. I dont think it would cause any problems if you did 10 days though as they need plenty of Vitamin C

I will keep hoping that between you, the vet and Irie you get through this and Irie starts getting well.

If I think of any other suggestions I will let you know

Do you know how many mg/ml the solution had, rjespicer?

Some guidance on vitamin C here:

It wasn’t on the vets notes but luckily I kept the empty bottle. It was 60mg/ml

1ml would then be 60mg vitamin C. A reasonable amount for an ill guinea pig.

Thanks !! HE started today..i found syringe as he sneezed a little, so I just looked all over the house and we luckily found one clean.. :)

Like rjespicer said..Its me who worries not him and thats very cool..also he wasnt at vets for three weeks which was stressing him out very much..he has to go there all the time cause of injections of bactrim.

And after all whatever he has and for whatever reason(vet said pigs can have viruses and baccterias together, but they treat baccterias) it confuses him, confuses him why he cant completely get over that s... in such a long time. But, anyway..

And they diagnosed IRie with bronchitis(before not now), but its very little-he has it ever since i knew him, it got suddenly worse when Galli died but he got some medication(the first time ever that he took something and it helped him imidiatly, but than week after he got sick as well and that just didnt cure as planned as I wrote).

I hope all your instructions and everything -its already helping us.. and we can finally get over it completely. It s cool we took bene bac for belly and vitamin C for finally feel better:) I ll keep you posted.. we have Quite drive to do and we dont know exactly when our vet is working so we ll see which day we ll go there.. I cant even go anywhere at evenings..just listening if IRie s sneezing in my room-now, he s not luckily..eh, my dear pig!:)

Another culture Will be done for Irie..(is in progress)
Actually our vet was there but he was bussy doing else..so there was other vet who i only met twice..but she was so kind.. she took Irie s discharge from nose and we only had to wait for an hour(actually we went to eat, which was horrible for me, hehe!!) And i took my brother with us so our rasta team was complete :)
I hope something Will be shown. She also said that sneezing of any kind is not normal and that crying when pooping is cause of his belly(they know its very sensitive..she said that is unusual even for pigs..cause Irie just got belly hurt so easily-he cant handle antibiotic at all-my other pig Lee never had problems of any kind..)Irie without benebac just wouldnt make it..like really.
Thanks for positive wishes..and we re waiting for results and wishing all ill pigies on other threads(if i wrote correctly) a lot of health and positive vibes!!

No, crying while pooping is not typically due to the "belly". Sometimes with severe diarrhea there can be added pain but it is much more likely to be stones.

I didnt say nor did she that is typical, I know it is not. If it wont go away i ll ask for x-rays, again, for sure!I take very very seriously everything you wrote thats why i asked you about culture, bene bac and stuff. But I cant just go no, shut up, what if its the stones.. they dont even do two cultures for one animal I think, so..they sort of did me a favour. I would prefer lungs x-ray+body x-ray as well if he was there! Cause I dont plan go there with him like 1000 times, cause its stresful and i find mental state of animal very important too...

Besides she mentioned alergies again and I said that Galli didnt die cause of alergies..you know. I have to be patient and polite..

It started after antibiotics and that is the fact. And he couldnt poop for two days(!!)and than got severe diarrhea after bactrim(oral), but he got Reglan, cause it was getting dangerous for him and that causes diharrea if pigs dont poop for long.

His piss is normal and its not little it s a lot and his urine colour is okay. And he got benebac even now and than he cries a lot less.

Thanks..I read the link. I ll go back if it wont stop soon(and I mean in like a week or two).. one vet is very experienced about stones-he operates them for like 20years or more, but he was smoking outside, so he just said hey:). There are three working and they know I ask just everything so they must be like oh, here comes the crazy ones, again:)

I ll do everything for all Irie s problems to end(sneezing, discharge, crying when pooping, I didnt notice he would have trouble urinating, but I ll be watching closely.) And I really hope its not the stones, I read one Young pig was crying after month on antibiotics too..

If I got it correctly x-rays can deny stones or you suggest else..? We wont give up, dont worry. I go back and back and back if its not okay, but I have to see if it Will go away by itself and benebac if not.. stones check is in order, too!

And thank you very much for helping us...a lotttt

Xrays would show if there were stones. Usually two views are taken.

I was responding to what your vet said about the "belly". I know you are trying to do the best you can. If there is a great deal of digestive upset, diarrhea, etc. sometimes there can be pain.

You can keep the idea of stones in the back of your mind and hope things improve and clear up.
