Josephine, if the Shilintong that Alison e-mails you is one that you would use on your guinea, would you please e-mail to me? It sounds like the one I just ordered is a blend so I guess I've just thrown $12.50 out the window . . . wouldn't be the first time! Glad it was only $6.00 plus $6.50 shipping! Thanks for the info Alison.

MNcavy,

I do not have experience with this herb. Thus, I try to consolidate the info and send to Josephine for justification. Hope this will help her research.

Perhaps your bottle is also okay for cavy. Did you check with other cavy owners on this forum? Are you using the same brand?

Spoke with a co-worker today. She has used TCM herself for her lupus and used to refer clients to a reputable veterinary practice in Utah that did TCM. We'll see. It looks more and more like this is something a TCM practioner will make for each individual patient. Kinda like a homeopath.

Is anyone familiar with this brand of shilintong from fareastginseng.com?
That is the one I used for Angel. It worked very well for her.

GP Lover - thanks for the info! I'm happy to hear that this brand was successful for Angel. I think I'll give it a try -- at this point, nothing else seems to be helping Rugi -- maybe this will be the "magic pill!" My thanks!

Good luck. I can only tell you my experience. Everything I am aware of was done by 3 vets to try and get relief for Angel and nothing but this Shilintong supplement worked.

Here's what was tried over the course of 2yrs:

-3 antibiotics (some for 4-8 wks)
-Numerous urine cultures
-Spay (result of an ultrasound to determine why pain w/urination
-Polycitra k syrup
-Exploratory surgery of bladder (narrowing of urethra was discovered, inflammation of entire genital/urinary tract.
-Culture of bladder tissue
-Culture of vaginal tissue
-Predisone
-Amitryptilline (to try and block pain receptors)
-Dietary change
-Corn Silk and Hydrangea tinctures

Oh, GP Lover, your poor sweet Angel. You sound like me . . . willing to do anything for the happiness of your dear sweet piggy!

Do you recall the dosage of Shilintong that you gave Angel?
How soon did you see results?
Did you keep her on the Shilintong indefinitely?

Do you recall the dosage of Shilintong that you gave Angel?
-I simply let 1 tablet dissolve in about 2-3 tablespoons of water. Then, I syringed her 1cc twice/day

How soon did you see results?
- within 2 days

Did you keep her on the Shilintong indefinitely?
- yes, until she passed on July 7 while undergoing surgery
to remove an abscess in her abdomen which the vet thinks
may have been caused by a prior surgery or something
that punctured her stomach.

GP Lover, so sorry for your loss of your dear Angel. Thanks for the info. - I am hopeful that Rugi will see the same positive results as your Angel did!

Thanks! I hope Rugi is helped too! The best you can hope for after trying to cure is to get pain relief for them.
