Reba: Satin w/arthritis, bone loss, & teeth issues

You took such good care of Reba, hon. I remember all the phone calls in the middle of the night.
That pig and her potential dietary goodies were probably discussed more than she could have ever known. You were so inventive and caring and even your laptop bears the "scars."
And I'm sure she's the only pig anyone ever made piggie pancakes for.
You did the best job you could have done. It was just a tough shot from the beginning. I know you'll miss her, but also consider how she's probably relieved to not have to suffer anymore.
Hugs from me and HF.

I'm so sorry you lost her. She was well loved by you and your family. RIP little one.

I'm so sorry. She was a beautiful girl who was very loved. Rest well Reba.
Oh, I'm very sorry you lost little Reba. It's very hard to loose them, as Lynx said, when you've spent so much time taking care of them.
I know this is a difficult time, but would you consider allowing your vet to do bone tissue samples? The vets are finally getting the message that there are problems with satins and the more information they have, the more we can help future pigs. Just something to consider.
Rest well, sweet Reba.

Thanks all.
We took her to the vet's office this morning to be cremated. The vet was unavailable but we were promised that she would be given our message offering for her to perform a necropsy or whatever else she felt she may want to do for educational purposes.
We let Radar say goodbye as he was her protector and had gotten upset when he heard her struggling. When we put him back in the cage he went inside Reba's pigloo and stayed there. He wouldn't even come out for their bedtime snack before I went upstairs and he refused the cherry I reached in with, even tho I know he loves cherries.
Rojita has been continually walking to the door of the pigloo and looking in today. There is nobody there anymore for her to bully and steal from. None of the four wheeked for veggies this morning.

Hi Robyn! I haven't seen you around much lately!
Yes, Dr. Lieb is absolutely fantastic! She works so hard for her patients and actually shows true concern for them as a living being rather than how they will benefit her pocketbook. I have had vets before who seemed to see their critter clients only as dollar signs and it is so refreshing to see her caring and compassion. She is also very straightforward with what she feels is the best route for the animal, yet also shows that she realizes the bond between the animal and its human parents. I will not switch vets until she is no longer practicing.
"She passed the best way, in your arms."
I know this is true, and I am happy that I was there at that time, but I selfishly wished I wasn't at one point. She has proven herself a fighter and she fought the end for way too long last nite. It was horrible. Except that one of the last things she did was cuddle up and kiss me. I feel really bad for waking daddybear and putting him thru that, even tho I know he wanted to be there as she was his baby and owned his heart.
