I am extremely ignorant of FL geography. Are any of these vets even close? I know it's a rabbit list, but there are ophthalmologists with exotic experience that you might be able to consult with via phone.

Here is the "official" list of all the veterinary ophthalmologists in FL:

Well, maybe not "official," since I see the CA part needs updating!

She's not in Florida anymore. I think West Virginia. (Glade, you need to update your profile)

I'm in SW West Virginia now, J. Right down the street from Klynne.

None listed in WV, but there is one in Lexington, maybe we can consult with them.

I have an apt with my vet Monday, I will see if she is familiar with VIN.

It is hard to tell from the pictures, but his left eye is actually much better, the swelling of the scelera has gone down signifigantly. But the eye has hardened. The right eye is of course much worse.

I probably should have pushed her to do a culture or something right up front. Is it possible it could be fungal? Klynne brought that up.

Oh, poor pig! His eyes look just horrible.

I hope you'll be able to find a good vet nearby!

"I hope you'll be able to find a good vet nearby!"

We have nice vets; we have well-intentioned vets. We do not have knowledgeable exotics vets. We do not have specialists.

Any resources would be out of state, and a big drive.

I have nothing useful to add, but I hope and pray he gets well soon and you find a solution. I hope he's not in pain.

I wish I could do something for Brian.

Sending you and Brian positive vibes.

Hope you can find treatment for Brian. I think we should contact Vet Schools around the country en masse and let them know what their programs lack in small animal care. Even 1 semester being exposed to piggies, etc. would give Vets a better idea on how to treat them. Dr. J always did research but it's hard to find someone to consult with.

Sorry, I can't keep track of everyone's location. I used your profile.

It doesn't matter whether or not you have a specialist in your area. It's just helpful. If one has access to the internet and/or even a telephone, there are consultation services everywhere! Most are no cost or low cost, but the information is more valuable than anything else. I can't count the number of times faceless names have helped me via the internet when I emailed them with a case history. My first heart pig would have never made it if I hadn't become his advocate and searched for the information myself.

O.K. HERE is the ACVO official site. You are right, there are no listings in WV. It is much more updated than the previous site I listed.
