Almost Inbred

Loiosh's long, lustrous hair was constantly yellow with pee stains, and it was starting to tangle at his butt. I tried to keep up with brushing him, but I failed. Still, this option would not have occurred to me had Nurgle not done it first.

His hair started out a little longer than in this pic.

I couldn't bring myself to go as short as Nurgle did, but this should be more manageable.

I wounded his pride and fear he now needs Prozac.

Told him it was your idea, and he's really pissed at you, Nurgle.

Poor Loiosh! He really does look sadder...

I myself always wanted long haired pigs but I don't think I'd be able to keep up with their high-maintenance hair.

Aww, that makes me sad. I always loved brushing and playing with my long-hairs, though I had to keep their butts trimmed short. Mama Pig sort of has the long hair going on, but it's not the same as the shelties I had before...

He'll get over it. Until the next time you hack his hair.

Let Loish know it could have been worse, much, much worse.

If I had a choice, for easy hair maintenance care, I would prefer to have short-haired guinea pigs. But a great silkie-mix guinea pig came into my life. Unfortunately she has the little ‘backside wet hair’ issue that the long-haired girls have.

I try to keep the hair as short as possible and would like to do so regularly. However, she has the typical guinea pig personality about having anything near her background. She carries on like she is being ‘sliced’ like a loaf of bread whenever scissors or trimmers comes anywhere near her backside.

She gets stressed going to the groomer’s salon just for a nail trim. Along with the stress of having her nails trimmed, there’s the trauma of the journey to and from there. Afterwards she’ll hide in her pigloo recovering for about two days.

So I tried cutting the hair on my own. With her struggling, and my ineptitude, her backside ended up having the “Moe” haircut from the “Three Stooges.” At least there was no skin showing like there would have been with the “Curley” cut.

Poor thing was embarrassed by what ‘evil’ mommy had done to her. I had to warn family members before they saw her not to mention it. Even then, they had to restrain a gasp at what butchery was done to the hair on her backside.

I ended up taking her to the groomer’s place after all and having a professional ‘butt cut.’ The two women there did a great job. They even trimmed the fur on her back legs. The cut looked really cute on her, like she was wearing a little pair of shorts. It was adorable to watch her scurry around the cage with a clean, dry backside.

The sad thing is the hair grows so quickly and it’s getting almost to the point where it needs to be trimmed again.

Piggies 'n Palm Trees

We keep Amee's butt hair short too, or else it gets rather matted and gross. Butt trims are more of a maintenance thing than piggie fashion.

Amee hates being brushed. But she loves looking pretty.

I am a crap hairdresser. Maybe I should just go ahead and shave him. A high and tight might look nice on him.

Nurgle's pic of Stanley is gone, but I did find LeeBee's Nellie. I kinda like her buzzcut.

==================
Amee's cute, Chad. I like her little rooster tail.

Nellie loves her haircuts! She gets all excited and energetic after I cut her hair. She's got so much of it, it weighs her down. I bet Loiosh would love a nice shave as well.

I can relate, I have a white shelty called 'snowy' (original name eh?) who suffers from a terminal yellow/brown pee bum. He gets bathed more often than anyone else and I cut the hair around his butt short, but I didn't shear him like poor old Loiosh!

I want a long hair guinea, because IMO long haired ones look cuter than the short haired ones, if its got nice hair. ChadWPB, I have so much envy for you, Amee is so pretty *swoon*

I know they're high matenience, so I would only have one because I know it would be work, but they just look so pretty. I'd never give he/she a hack job, the hair is too pretty.

Just remember, you could get little insane aslyum escapees like mine if you get longhairs. :)

"Just remember, you could get little insane aslyum escapees like mine if you get longhairs. :)"

Aw, poor piggies, but then again, if I saw a giant scissors coming near me, I would run like hell... Actually, I do, because everyone seems to dislike my hair (i'm a guy w/ long hair) so I run whenever I see the sight of a person holding scissors, because more than likely they want it off my head =P

Tee hee.

My two Peruvians are too young to have grown their hair out, so they look like they have mohawks (you can see them in my avatar). The white one has it MUCH worse than the torti, though.

It actually makes me want to keep their hair short so I can have it all sticking up.

...what, what, what?

Now I have to go upload Stanley's pics again. I hate switching servers! This one should stick though. ;-)

But, Ciaytee, that is one nasty 'do.

(I've not been able to get online for a few days now and I switched from dayshift to nightshift, so I've been recuperating, not ignoring y'all.)

Stanley, after his hair has grown out:

Here is Stanley, hair cut with scissors. Very first haircut I ever gave him!

And here are a few, much more recently (last year?) that I did with clippers:

I have to say, he is usually universally pissed about the whole thing.

I did just give him a trim-up and butt-wash, but if that doesn't last long, poor boy is getting clippered again.

Maybe I could shave him, get myself a skinny.... nah.

Love is a Guinea Pig

I just had to look at this thread again for the funny pictures. The guinea pigs really do look embrassed. I wonder how they know.
