Hi guys,

Thought I'd do the wise thing of starting a medical thread for my girls.

My main concern is Pippin at the moment as she's displaying all the symptoms of hormonal problems.
She's 2,5, never had a litter and her only medical problems have been mites and a nasty UTI which she finally recovered from.

Now her nipples have doubled in size, are crusty and she's agressively rumblestrotting/humping her cagemates.

I've had a chat with a vet friend of mine and she reckons with such strong symptoms it would be causing the pig unnecassary stress to do an ultra sound, then remove cysts or whatever with the high chance of them reforming. She highly recommends spaying & I agree.

Now my main worry is the danger of the operation. I know pigs do not fare well with anaesthetics or so much trauma, so if anyone could give me Any advice or share experiences I'd muchly appreciate it.

I'm very very scared of losing her, Pippin has done so much for me and I want her to be better again, but I have to choose the lesser of two evils and the outcome could be her end...

Please if anyone could help in any way, I'll be very very grateful.
Thanks guys!

You already have a thread open on this pig in this forum:

Please don't start another one. You can add on to your existing thread.
