I just had the scare of a lifetime! When I walked by Kirby's cage I saw blood all over the paper towel on the floor. My poor baby! As I rushed to his side, I noticed a very beat up looking strawberry in the corner. Kirby had kicked it around, spreading strawberry juice all over and then decided it wasn't worth eating. Silly pig. Stupid me. I forgot breakfast was romaine, parsley and strawberries.

Try watermelon, if you want a nice red mess...my pigs love it, but I clench everytime.

Another is red pepper. I was frantic when I saw the towels lining the top half of the boys' cage was pinkish and streaks of red.
Then, realized it was the remants of the red pepper they ate from the night before.

HA! Someone had that happen on April Fools day this year. Since then, I always think about what I fed them when I see something "odd".

I too have had the red bell pepper/bloody face scare. It's pretty frightening.

Jeffy has to be the coolest pig I ever met. My first love was named "Jeff." I was 4, he was 3. Even then I had a thing for younger men.

The only red food I have given Pandora is red bell pepper. She looks like a weird himi after eating it. Lightning's chin used to stain, but it was usually from green food, occasionally from carrots. Pippin/Thunder is a tortie, so he can eat what he wants with impunity.

Ginger is cream colored and have yet to have the red stained face. Maybe she is just to "girly" (sp) to get it on her well groomed face.

I've done the same thing, especially with Jake and Scooter. Because with so many pigs, I never remember who doesn't like them!

I have a non-food-related scare sometimes. My dog has a stuffed animal shaped like a squirrel. It's very realistic and sometimes if he leaves the toy near the pig cages, I get a scare like "Oh no, one of the pigs is dead on the floor." I HATE that toy!

Kerry, Imagine living in the country where Rattle snakes roam at will and houses are not ever too secure for them to get into and seeing your sons toy snake on top of the piggy house.
