My guinea pig, "Skins," is pregnant (I did NOT breed her--she's a rescue that was left on a roadside with her "sister", who was also pregnant and delivered three babies a week ago). I am estimating she is about 5-6 weeks along. My only experience with piggy pregnancy is her sister--I could feel her abdomen at about 7 weeks along, and easily feel 3 babies (two on one side, one on the other).

What concerns me about this pregnancy is that there is only one. It is on the left side, BUT her right side is growing too. When she walks, you can see that she is getting that "eggplant shape", and that she is growing by the day. But you can't tell that the right side is empty.

This worries me. Does this sound normal?

I know that when Carrie was pregnant I thought I felt two bulges and she had one baby.

Your primary concern is that a single pup (if there is only one) may be larger and more difficult to deliver. Be sure to line up an experienced exotics vet in case there is an emergency.
